After I went to the game I came home and watched a bit on tv (hoping to see the song which I didn't) none the less.

I noticed one commentator said that Joel is doing well for someone nobody wanted. Excuse me if I'm wrong but did he not train with either kangas or Richmond. The didn't nominate for the naitional draft only to be picked up number 1 in the pre-season draft?

Personally I see that as one hell of a bargain for the player I saw on tv and live. Granted we went out of our way to
make him a cheap buy. But according the herald sun article on Sunday. He chose us as much as we chose him.

I'm on the iPhone can't do links easily.

Lastly:
best bargain - Joel mac or almost fev for mine
worst cost: Shaun burgoyne (another fracture for him) or d jolly

who do you guys think?

He has been very good for us, the only flaw I have seen is that he runs himself & sells other players into troubls sometimes with his handball.

But all in all what he has brought to us far outweighs any negatives he has.

He's one angry unit and yes has been a great pick up thus far.

He never nominated for the ND so was not 'unwanted". The Dee's gave him a commitment to take him in the PSD if he did not nominate.

Really interested to see how he goes on Saturday against the Lions. I'm sure he would love to stick it Vossy for casting him adrift.

Going pretty well is Joel Mac, showed a lot of courage going for
the ball yesterday - and thats just what we need, especially from
a guy who is new at the club.

I wouldnt pay much attention to the commentators stating that
no one wanted him, there was one commentator who knew absolutely
nothing about football commentating yesterday, does anyone know the
3 commentators, because this stood out pretty clearly.

Also, I thought we done pretty well considering the umpires consistantly
hampered us all day, its probably something that needs to be looked at.

James Podsiadly?

The 28 year old?

Yeah I know,Thats the only bad factor and quite a big one I guess.

He's still a gun though and would make a great forward option, but I'm more than happy with Jmac.

In saying that if JMAC went through the draft what pick would he have gone for? I'd say pick 25 to 35. Which is great for a rookie selection.

Beg to differ.

Don't get me wrong JMAC is doing great but JPOD would be great in the Red n Blue.

Yeahhhhhh Pods is probably a little bit out of our age bracket.
That bloke being listed at 28 is a joke... he looks older than Yoda.

For our structure/future development etc, JMac is a fair steal. Fits in well, and for a bloke who no one was really expecting to star, (Like everyone is for Jolly, Burgoyne etc) he's doing the job.

Freo's Michael Barlow would have to lay claims to being a bit of a draft smokey as well.

He's a tough unit and he can play on all sorts of forwards, but he just made too many mistakes under pressure for us, I reckon.

Plus we already have Patfull who's quite a similar sort of player.

Hope he does well at Melbourne. Hope he has a good game on Saturday. Can't think of an obvious match up for him, though.

I said bargain not best pick up. If for example ablett was picked up with the first 20 picks compared to bartel who was picked up at 21. Ablett was the better pick-up but bartel would be the better bargain...

Watch him in the room singing the song after the Richmond win..
I love the passion he has for the club after such a short time...
He is a rippa and show tremendous courage running back with the flight yesterday!!!

Does anyone know of an iPhone friendly link for the team song against Richmond. Fox didn't show it. It is nigh on impossible to find

Much better than the ADEL win, as he didn't even know the words haha.

Maguire at pick 91 is looking like a bargain. And X.Clarke at 61 could be a huge steal.

Still Jmac is a solid player and certainly a good deal for where you picked him up.

I think many Lions fans, knowing Jmac as we do, thought he would be a good fit for a young developing Melbourne team. You bunch seem to have figured him out already, he is very committed and aggressive, does well defensively, although he just isn't big enough to play on a dangerous forward. His run out of the back half is very useful, however he does tend to give off hospital hand balls. He will hold down a spot in the back 6 and be solid doing it while the rest of the team developes and settles around him.

He is a good player, but not a great player. He was very good in our back 6, but we have replaced him in a heartbeat and are rolling on as if he was never there.
