..Spud! would rather have James Stauss failing at AFL level than giving this guy anymore games.. why did we pick up this absolute spud!!??
barlow and even the jPod at 28 would have been so much better for us.. honest to god would rather McPhee on our list..

his turnovers and weak efforts are a cancer on our club that is sweeping through the whole team..

not an over reaction this wasnt even his worst game... needs to go..

would rather watch Strauss getting caught with the ball or feta Cheney racking up 25 useless touches than this guy..

Re: Joel Macdonald Super..

Fetta Cheney...I lol'd :D

I think at his best he's serviceable for us. He's got a bit of experience and at 26 maybe a few more years down back. Although I maintain my position that McPhee would have been better and Bradshaw even more so, adding a forward mentoring presence to our inexperience front line.

Re: Joel Macdonald Super..

Watching him in the first half had me wondering whether we actually watched this guy play prior to recruiting him. Had a better second half but has to perform when the game is hot and for that I agree with you. Strauss should atleast provide a bit of enthusiasm.

Re: Joel Macdonald Super..

Hard to be consistent when you're constantly in and out of the side.

His 2nd half was decent, but the 1-on-1 where he was beaten by Jaensch was embarrassingly bad from an experienced defender, and there was a contest out on the far wing where he had to go but decided to shepherd for Davey instead. I'm nitpicking but he's a much better player than he showed today.

Re: Joel Macdonald Super..

J Mac was not good. He made poor choices every time the ball came near him. We should be giving the young boys time in the team rather then older people who cannot cut it at AFL level who are going to struggle to be around when our grand final window opens(3 +).

Re: Joel Macdonald Super..

You need a bit of time to settle back into AFL level football after spending a few weeks in the VFL.

He's not a magnificent player by any stretch of the imagination, but I'd much rather him in the side than Rivers.

Re: Joel Macdonald Super..

Now that I look back on it, the actual recruitment of Joel Mac is a bit strange.... if there's one thing we've got a lot of, it's medium-tall defenders, like Rivers, Frawley, Garland, even Bruce and Morton.....

I don't think Bailey should pick a team including both Rivers and Joel Mac - lets give Cheney or Strauss a go.....

JMac and Bruce should not be played in the same backline imo. Seeing as Bruce is the un-dropable king of uncontested possetions, if he has to play put him in a FP, or maybe HFF if he feels like having a run (cos he must get to decide I reckon).

JMac is better than he has shown this year and I have seen him do some good things to date, but should really be given a good chance to cement a spot in that backline. He cannot be in and out of the side every other week - it's pointless. Let him play out the year, with a caveat that if he has 3 shockers in a row he gets dropped or something...

Dunn is another whom I feel we should perceveer with (up forward). He can't really be expected to be in the game when there is absolutely zero quality ball coming into the forward line. We've seen that he can take a lot of marks and win 1-on-1's when he has the chance, all that really let's him down id his goal kicking, which can be worked on.

Miller, well, bloody hell. I can't beleive we are at this stage of the season and we have to be saying this again, but he should go...somewhere...far away from us, and stay there.

Rivers could be tried up forward, at least he can mark the ball and we know he has the ability to read the play well, doesn't do it often though.

Sylvia back in will help, as will Junior obviously. Jurrah and eventually Tapscott could add enough fire-power to our forward line so that we can start kicking winning scores. At the moment we cannot do that.

/poorly though out, incoherrant rant...

MacDonald was very good on the weekend.

Its so easy to say why didnt we draft Barlow or JPod 7 months later isnt it. IF anyone even knew Barlow was this good 9 months ago (including Fremantle) he would have been taken in the National Draft with a top 10 pick.

Why didnt we taken Nick Dal Santo instead of Luke Molan?, im seriously pissed off about that.

Re: Joel Macdonald Super..

it is very easy to say that now.. but even then i said not macdonald and now... i still say it.. he is terrible, he didnt get DELISTED for nothing!!!

Yeah, the Lions are really ripping it up now they've gotten rid of him (and Bradshaw) ...

Check the stats for last year. He was in the top 5 for most of them, and that in a side that finished 6th.

Nice of you to give Fitz the chance to develop, BS

He's one of the more exciting prospects on out list in my view, even if he is exceedingly raw at this point in time.
i used to help out with recruiting for the oakleigh chargers, i know a good prospect when i see one..
