It's difficult to say. Last year he was definately a top 3 pick, but this year he only played 3 games because of a knee injury.

Who knows? We could reverse history and actually trade up in the draft order, as opposed to always trading for later picks. Whatever happens, we need pacy midfielders with skill. Selwood fits that description and would be an excellent inclusion.

Dunno if he's pacey, and his kicking has been described as solid.

What he brings is an inside capability of an elite standard. Goes in hard and has good hands and feeds beautifully.

That's what you're buying with him, and it's something we need more than pacey outside mids.

There's a bit of buzz about the burger going at as early as #2.
Either way a win win for us.
If he goes that early, it means one of the classy mids will still be around at 10.
If he slips through we grab him.

Its all good

He would be good to have, but I don't think he'll be around for pick 10.

With St. Kilda being ahead of us in the draft I don't like our chances. I'd expect two of Selwood, Proud, Louenberger, Jetta and Collard to be available at pick 10 so it won't be too bad.

I’d say as well as rather than more than. Add a ruck and we’d get it enough at the stoppages. Personally I would like pacey mids but preferably not outside. You can have player with pace that aren’t receivers.

Wiseby says this of Selwood
"Solid, footy-smart wingman. Lacks real speed and is more of an accumulator of touches. Similar to Crawford"

Sounds handy but at 10? Personally I don’t think Colin is the oracle and nor does he claim to be but pace is pace and you either have it or you don’t and that should be apparent to any serious watcher such as Colin. There is not point getting pace without ability but we must get some pace into the midfield.

Agree Mark.
If Proud is gone (and I suspect he will go very early) then there is a kid called Jarrad Harborw from Gippsland who is said to be a tough inside mid with plenty of pace

Before the reco, he was being compared to Luke Ball. I'm not sure how he is now, but with the pick you guys have got, I doubt he would still be around.

I was going to post a reply to this, but I think I'll make a different thread, considering it was going pretty off-topic for a Selwood thread.
I was going to post a response to this post, but given that this post will be off topic, and will be in another thread, I will wait for said thread to commence and will post my reply to the new post in the new thread which hasn't yet been posted.
