I know .. i know....

But he is only 22.... is a fairly prodigious kick and a decent overhead mark.

He will nominate in the draft and might be worth a later pick....

Someone will take a crack at him and he might not need as much development...

Not saying it's a great idea but it might give us another option up forward....and Moons aint getting any younger and as much as I like Mitch Brown's potential, he aint been the model of health with his shocking injury run...

Just a thought....

I think he shows a heck of a lot more talent than Hawkins, He can take a one grab mark for a start.

Lets face it, Pods has 4yrs left (?), Mooney 1(?) and after that who's ging to kick our goals? Surely if Hawkins duds it again this year he will see out his days at VFL level or traded.

At 22 Anthony would be a good pick up at the right price, IMO he would be a welcome addition, he would definatly require attention from a quality backman and kicks straight.

i was thinking more of another option in the Mooney replacement stakes and as insurance against Brown blowing up again.

Moons and Pods - as brilliant as they are - are not long term multi year locks...
(neither is Anthony) but with his skills and development he could role play this year and then perhaps press for more selection next year....

Other than Tomahawk and Stokes, none have game time and at the elite level are unproven - plenty of potential sure - but even Tomahawk still carries questions.

I just reckon a strong marking lead up forward with a decent kick who is young (23) should not be counted out based on the potential that we have...as good as it may be.....

Look what Pods has done... no one wanted him - he came in took his chance and now he's a permanent fixture. I reckon Anthony might have a bit more fire in the belly after such a good 09 and poor 10...

then again, I aint Wells and co so I'll stick to my day job!!!!!;)

the right price is critical however...

Those 2 being the only genuine lead up forwards we currently have I was considering the hole that will be left when they depart. with Mooney on his last legs and Pods rapidly approaching the wrong side of 30 it would make sense to have someone who is a lead up forward waiting in the wings and can go on for more than 3-4 years.

Consider if Mooney or Pods were to go down this year with injury(or retirement), who do we have waiting in the wings that would take that role and have immediate impact? he has proven he can kick goals and take strong marks, there be no wondering if he was going to develop into something good and has plenty of years ahead of him.

Hawkins - No, everyone is waiting for something I think will never happen
Brown- to be honest haven't seen enough of this kid to make a call
Stokes- small forward
Menzel- half back by trade, not to say he couldn't be a forward, but still not going to be a major target up forward
Duncan- showed a bit in his few games, opportunistic forward, not a genuine target
B Johnson- again haven't seen enough to form a real opinion on him, could be the right size
Motlop- again, small forward

meh, just my 2 cents

I agree , plenty of "tosser" types are first picked. Give me 18 choir boys and you get the best sounding club song rendition ever , too bad you probably never get to sing it.

I rate him as 3 sandwiches short of a picnic in football terms. Just not worth the effort
 
He missed the ND nomination, so it's PSD, which means fat contract, which means no from me.

In the ND at a reasonable price I would have done it, but in the PSD no.
 
Do not rate him anyway you look at it. Another Kent Kingsley - will have a few good games and a lot of no influence games. Good backman can close him down too easily.

Like others have said, he reminds me of Kingsley. He'll play a few good games but he won't have any overall impact and will turn out a disappointing forward for whoever picks him up. We're no realistic chance to pick him up in the PSD anyway. Carlton come before us in the pecking order, and if no one picks him up before then they certainly will.

I still don't know why we didn't give Ben McKinley a look.

Agree that Jack Anthony has many Kant Kicksley similarities.
The only advantage in recruiting him could be the whipping boy/off load factor path to success. In Kent's case, after years of being the go to man for bagging after continued GFC failings, he left at the end of 2006, and of course we know what happened in 2007. In Anthony's case it was similar, in that he had been a fixture/one to blame in the CFC in recent years, but not so 2010. Result, a Pies premiership. So maybe a bit of forward planning (pun intended) is required. Recruit Anthony for next year, load him up with blame/ridicule for all of 2011, and then warehouse/off load him for 2012, and reap the rewards. I'm pretty sure this approach was the only reason a Terry Wallet recruited Kingsley to Tigerland.

Yes. He played full forward in 09 and kicked 50 goals, because at that stage Dawes wasn't ready.

Played most of the year in the VFL at full back and did well (according to the Pies) so I think they saw him long term as a defender maybe. Which explains why when Tarrant came in he decided to go.
