Is it not possible that the players made him look good in the second half after his gameplan put us in a massive hole to begin with?
He is in charge of getting the players ready and putting a plan together. Friday does not instill me with confidence

All I can say is that this "Horse can't coach" argument has been going on since 2013 & he's bluffed his way through to now by winning games.

I defended him until last year when it was clear the game had passed him by.

He doesn’t have any gameplan tricks and isn’t a good match day coach. It’s clear we aren’t getting the best out of our players, so I feel we should look elsewhere.

Bring on Guy McKenna then.
Looking forward to it actually.

Ted we still play ugly. we are renowned for it. We are so defensive everyone knows what we are going to do before we do it. Get with the plot. Longmire has outgrown his usefulness. He's old news. I'm not saying go with the McKenna or Knights total offensive plan but for goodness sake we need to change or we will bottom out and you know how disastrous that is for the Swans. although I think McKenna was screwed by the Suns recruiting even before he was appointed. He also had to put up with Ablett on his knees praying before every match and trying his hardest to convert the players to Mormanism. He had a divided squad for ****'s sake. Those who believed in a stupid ****ing God and those who were scientifically opposed to fairy stories.

Yeh ok Wolfy. I'll agree with you.
Who? Where? I'm talking this week against Geelong.
Who should coach?

But not premierships. The worst GF loss in the club's history. A GF he couldn't lose, 2016, and he lost it. If you can't win the big ones you might as well mnot win the others. By the way if he winds more than about 12-13 games this year you can pillar me. Everyone is a wake up to his tactics.

This has been answered by me, but feel Wolftones post puts it much better.

There are people with a wide range of experience that I would prefer.

Besides some highlights from a few stars it’s grinding ugly AF wins

Hard to watch the way he wants us to play

Just try’s to lesser the damage every time the opposition is on top allowing a loose back

Grinding defencive stagnant crap with a no risk policy

Still another couple of years left of it though

Lucky he has talent in the list otherwise he wouldn’t have a job imo

I agree and yes we have the talent now but not for much longer. I think players are getting sick of the ugly footy and this terrible game plan. They hate playing it. The mids especially hate it and I think the players have lost confidence in the coach. I see no other reason for key players being so down on their game.

It also prevents us from taking advantage when we do have the run of play. It’s why we rarely belt teams and have periods where we look to have all the play and don’t punish the scoreboard

Some on here don't like the players, the coach or the way we play... makes me wonder why they consider themselves Swans supporters? Sounds like they want to make us into some other team.

Oh well, each to their own... GO BLOODS!

Listen sport just because people don't like the way the coach has us playing is not an indication they don't not only support the club but the players, support coaches and support staff. I could call you a lot of names your post has me that angry. Egotistical and short sighted are two words that come to mind. Everybody supports in their own way. I hate the sort of football we play every week. It is ugly, defensive crap which every coach now expects and is a wake up to. I'd say Stevie J and Dean Cox would be ruing the day they signed their contracts having to work with such a one track coach. He knows only one way; DEFENCE DEFENCE DEFENCE sorry two ways I forgot PLAY UGLY WIN UGLY! heck I'm over the way we play. We for the first time in a long time have real talent to the bursting. But this bloke has no idea how to utilise that talent because he designs a game plan and expects them to execute it but the reality is we don'r have the sort of player to execute an ugly no talent game plan made for the low skills of previous players.

The other fact is if you stay in Sydney more than two years and come with huge skills after the two tears you no longer have those skills. so many players have arrived at Swans with great kicking skills only to see them deteriorate after two years. The skills work at the Swans must be the shortest session of al

2016 we finished with the best percentage in the league.

Last year, once we finally hit our straps after round 7, our average margin was a 6 goal win, and we won almost 1/3rd of those games by more than 50 points.

We’ve got the best forward of his generation and we’ve actually been scoring pretty heavily as a result, even while playing a defence-prioritised gameplan.

The comment wasn't specifically addressed at either you or Punts believe it or not, but at all the posters on here (BF) having a go John Longmire, the team and our game style.

You say that most people agree with your point of view, bur I just don't believe that is true. Perhaps most posters on BF do, but that is not very many at all. 2017 saw the Sydney Swans membership achieve record numbers for the 5th consecutive year. That seriously dents the credibility of the statements made about his lack of ability as a coach.

You say his game style has been worked out and is out of date, but we still win more than we lose, and we continue to make the eight and give ourselves a chance.

Others talk about his stubbornness, spite and vindictiveness as if they know this for a fact, when all they really know is that he is not doing what they want him to. They put reasons to his actions according to what they want to believe.

I am allowed to say that I find it appalling that every loss, every perceived failure of any member of the team, or section of the team, is laid at Longmire's door.

You want him gone, I don't.

You really are in a different reality. horse has nothing to do with the membership numbers. One Lance 'Buddy' Franklin did though. In fact the numbers started to increase incredibly the moment he stepped off the plane.

In fact since 2014 our membership has doubled. Did our membership rise greatly after the 2012 premiership? Not hugely but a little.

We will be lucky to win more than lose this year and we win more than lose on player talent alone mate.

Percentage is deceiving because it’s possibly even more about defense, as a score line of 81-40 carries a better % than beating someone 180-90.

We did beat up on a few historically bad team last year, but we play conservative against good sides and it costs us.

Pretty sure after round 6 the Swans were number one in the AFL for both FOR and AGAINST... could be wrong but I’d be close...

Acknowledge that we played better after round 6 because we had nothing to lose. We still close up against good sides and shoot ourselves in the foot
