The delay is fine because it will count as time served. I suspect he may well be back in 2020.
That’s my guess.

Big lesson learnt.

The guy has dash, could learn to tidy up a bit, but potentially a capable and fast player.

But for memory we did it with players that haven’t breached their contracts, Corrie, Stubbs, Farmer or haven’t as far as I am aware etc
Sorry, I’m not sure of their contract stances then. You might be correct. Just can’t recall.

But one thing that can happen, if the player agrees to a new contract for whatever reason, then sure.
But I’d suggest it’s rare and for particular reasons in such an individual case.

He does have some good attributes, but our VFL mids are struggling and Daicos is starving on the outside as a result of that.

He's lacking urgency and seems to drift through games, and I wonder if confidence --he'd really be wondering where and when his next senior opportunity might appear-- is the biggest issue at the moment.

No quick fix, although relentless hard work needs to be part of it. Maybe some roles in defence would give him some purpose in the short term, and would definitely make him more accountable. In any case, he's not without a hope if he's up for the challenge.

Relentless hard work.

You’re bang on about that.

That’s his way into the seniors and then to stay there.

Has talent but is it ultimately more as a depth piece?

That’s his challenge.

talking about a third year late draft pick that had 6 disposals in the VFL as a possible delist and re-rookie option isnt really a knee jerk reaction, also those other numbers arent exactly anything to write home about

If those 6 disposals were typical of his VFL form, then I agree with you, he should be delisted... But the facts of the matter are that 6 disposals were atypical. Yesterday was an unusually poor game from Daicos. Last year and early this year a more typical game from him iswith disposals in the high teens or low 20s. Now sure, we can argue about whether he does enough or should be doing more, but that wasn't the argument you were making. You were making all sorts of predictions on Daicos' future based on a statistical outlier, an unusually poor shocker. Thats a knee jerk!!

Would you agree to change it so you are worse of?

They won't shift anyone to the rookie list this year, but your rationale is off. Players are no longer worse off being on the rookie list. It wouldn't affect his contract or his likelihood for selection or resigning. There is no real Category A rookie list anymore, it's just a list of blokes whose first contract at the club was a one year contract.

The reason why they won't shift anyone is that there is unlikely to be any significant advantage in doing so. Last year, we shifted a couple of blokes there, because it enabled us to take advantage of a loop hole in the draft points bidding scheme. It meant that we created a couple of fake list vacancies that we were never going to use so that we could take extra academy points into the draft. This year it doesn't look like draft points are going to matter for us, so it doesn't look like there will be any reason to shift anyone.

Can you explain where all my predictions are in my post? I have quoted it for your ease below... May I add, 1 player (drafted before him) from his draft class has already been delisted (and it was quite taboo around here late last year to suggest he was a possible delisting candidate). Coming into this season I dont think it is unreasonable to assume both he and Callum Brown needed to show improvement this year, 6 rounds in only one has and its not him.

geez its disappointing to hear he played midfield and only had 6 touches, given he's contracted for next year my early guess is they will delist with a promise to rookie if no one takes him. He's lucky he is contracted through 2020 so he has time to develop more, needs to really start delivering... thought at AFL level he has been ok.

He has to be carrying something, he was on fire pre season and looked like the one to come in before Brown did.

No reason you'd play a kid injured for a meaningless VFL game, he has been pretty meh in the last few VFL games before this one too.
I'd prefer to believe he's carrying a niggle, he's got all the talent.

By "all the talent" do you mean he's a nice kick?

Lots of his game that seems pretty weak, poor mark, can't win his own ball, lacks speed and undersized.
Evidently that's your interpretation because I didn't say it.

Sad to say but, i dont think he is going to get there from here, love to be wrong on this one.

Had high hopes going into the season but he's been disappointing YTD. Sub 2018 even.Has more time though.

I’m pretty sure it doesn’t work that way.

We've used it effectively in the past. Gault, Murray, Oxley, Broomhead to name a few.

Daicos has been re-signed to the senior list with a matching remuneration package. The club can’t just change his contract to a rookie listed player.

Why not?

Other than earlier access to a potential draftee who could be taken ND instead of RD.

Contracted players get delisted and rerookied all the time.

It’s a possibility.
Does the player have to agree? Can you delist a player with a year to run on his contract? would you have to wear his payout in the salary cap?
