Has there been a player for us in recent times that’s put on more size than Daicos has, in such a short span of time? He is a little beast and you can just see how much work he’s put in.

The guys a beast....Looking forward to him taking another huge step this year. I'm tipping a top 5 finish in the Copeland this year.

Came here to post the same pic. The old handball flex photo definitely makes the most of the muscles players stack on in preseason, but it's bloody impressive either way.

Josh is a great example for our new draftees. I hope guys like Poulter and McMahon see what hard work and dedication can do and follow his lead.

I feel we are building a very good list while maintaining a good competitive team for the present. I have a good feeling about our batch of kids coming through this year- throw in Nick Daicos and we may be in a position to lose a few more grannies yet! No, I am genuinely optimistic.

I just attempted it in front of the mirror....can’t seem to get it to work.

It was a bloody good backline in it's day. But anyone who argues that the standard was higher back then needs to watch some footage of Kelly, Kerro, Gayfer and Jamie Turner - our premiership defenders. Imagine the turnovers with those blokes trying to kick their way through a forward press.
Imagine the force they tackled....makes U think

As someone who started following footy and the pies in the late 80s how bloody great is it to again be able to yell Daicos as the footy curves it’s way through the big sticks!

I just feel for him.

Every time he does something good, the commentators talk about his old man. When he misses a goal, the commentators talk about how his old man would have kicked it. Now when he does something good, they are even starting to talk about Nick, saying he is on the way and implying he will be better than Josh.

The commentators need to give it a rest and appreciate Josh for the player he is.

AFL commentators are complete and utter knobs

Josh is getting better and better. Its a pleasure to watch his development. He is creative, skilled, takes the game on. Another example of why we need patience with the kids. I'd love them all to be world beaters in their first couple of seasons, but many can't do that.

On the plus side, he’s playing, not listening to those flogs.

What I don’t get is Josh Daicos had a breakout year last season playing on a wing. So much so that the club moved on Tom Phillips in the offseason who is a pretty good winger in his own right. Now this season, Daicos is playing half forward and we have hacks like Chris Mayne and Tyler Brown playing on the wing. What gives?

Josh Daicos game time should be 80% midfield, 20% forward. I actually think they should try him in the centre. We badly need someone that can actually rove to Grundy’s ruckwork.

Game on the line you need your best players around the ball to control the game yet he was stuck up forward

Bang on, he needs to be around the footy. He's arguably our most damaging user of it

Must admit had my doubts he would make it during his first few years on the list. Skill yes, just didn’t thing he had the physical attributes. Too slow and not physically big enough.

I think I read somewhere the club had similar thoughts and told him so. He took the advice and went to the gym over the offseason. 2020 was the result.

Now you just love it when he has ball in hand. Very similar to Pendles in his ability to find time and take the right option. So different to Mayne, C Brown and Thomas.

If we are to replace these players please be it with smart players with ball in hand.

This is untrue. The club told him he was at the crossroads, but it had nothing to do with him not working hard in the gym etc. He’d had trouble with his asthma during juniors at at his first few years at Collingwood. The 2019 offseason was when they finally got his medication right, which he mentioned in a couple of interviews last year. Since then he’s been able to build his tank to a level he wasn’t physically able to reach previously.

So he was at the crossroads.

So he was at the crossroads.
Yes, but not for the reasons you mentioned, and it wasn’t some kind of lightbulb moment that made him work harder like you implied.
