Ryan comfortably defeated Frydenberg on primary votes in booths around Hawthorn, and narrowly defeated him on primary votes in booths that Frydenberg would have expected to have won (Kew).

Even in booths where Frydenberg would have expected to have dominated Ryan (Balwyn, Balwyn East, Balwyn North), Ryan's margin of defeat on primary and on 2PP vote was insufficient for Frydenberg to make up in other booths.

Ryan comfortably won the seat.

Where would this resurrection happen? Nothing about any of the performance of the teals has suggested that they'll be one term wonders leaving two Melbourne suburban seats for Frydo to contest to make this comeback, neither of which would offer the sort of guarantee that a potential PM would be looking for. I can't see a Frydenberg comeback because I can't see how he'd manage it in at least the next election cycle and while it's hard to tell what happens after that, by then he will have been out of politics for at least four to six years.

I went to Melbourne Uni, (rather than Monash) but was involved in student politics to some extent.
