It’s an even smaller statement from those on the left who argue that the cut is contrary to EV take up, when one of their own governments taxes electric vehicle usage.

I think most Australians will welcome the fuel relief.
I stop taking people seriously when they start applying the "left, lefty, leftist, etc" tags.

I mean, for instance, fancy labelling modern day Labor as "left".

LOL.
Why don't you have an EV.
His wife does and she drives 500,000 kilometers a year!!!! 😂

2 cents a kilometer is the tax on an EV in Vic and most states will follow in some form… it’s not a deterrent to getting an EV when you are saving shitloads per kilometer …. Smart policy by Dan getting revenue in before the Josh gets his hands on it for more car parks.

On the one hand, ALP supporters prefer to refer to their party as centrist, as if sitting at some imaginary 90 degrees between left and right. Then they argue that the LNP is not comparatively conducive to social issues, presumably not as left as ALP would ideally be. It's claimed that there's inherent leniency around social issues when ALP is concerned, which is implicitly further left than Libs.

Given that the Libs employed one of the most extensive social spending packages recently: adopting the positioning arguments of ALP supporters puts ALP some way left of centre. Arguably left enough to be referred to as lefty.

If you disagree, which is it? is the ALP left of centre, actual centre, or right of centre?

For those criticising fuel relief in tonight’s budget, you obviously don’t live in Vic. The savings I’ll make in fuel costs on my petrol powered car will offset the increased costs on my wife’s EV thanks to Dan’s road user tax on EV’s.

I knew it was Dan Andrews...

what’s your response to the proposed cut to fuel excise?
They could of done it weeks ago …

Personally it doesn’t affect me … and I don’t think it will affect most people. $4 a week ?
I’m against it, because the money for roads still needs to come from somewhere.
it’s purely an election policy like all LNP policies… it’s embarrassing.

hahaha, every campaigner squealing for weeks for the government to cut the fuel excise because of the price fuel, they cut it and now every campaigner squealing because.

I hoped they wouldn't do it, but there you go, they have.

It's currently costing my wife and I around $400 per week to commute to work and back Monday to Friday, it's going to save us around $40 per week at current prices, it's not going to change our lives.

It’s about a $12 saving per tank of fuel; on an average 60litre capacity. I think that will reach a significant proportion of people.

How much she drives is not relevant, it’s an ideological argument
Dans team, the most left ALP government in AU, taxes EV. The other States don’t.
It’s rich for the shadow treasurer and some ALP supporters to criticise that relief. It would obviously be welcomed by most, including you I suspect.

How is she driving 1500km a day when it will need at least two full charges?

What work is she doing to drive over 1000km a day?!?!?

So average Ks per week is about 250… most cars can do 600ks per tank … which is about $5 a week.
Where is the money for roads coming from? The rich lol 😁

Go back and read those posts, its clear I was being facetious,

My point has been that the left is describing the proposed cut in fuel excise as being contrary to environmentally friendly policy. But, contrary to every other State/Territory in AU, and opposite to incentive-based strategies adopted in the USA and elsewhere, encouraging EV take-up, the ALP Victorian government taxes EV usage.

So be specific.

How many KMs a day is she driving if not 1500?

It’s not relevant. The issue is that it’s contradictory to hammer an ideological policy position on environment when your “model” most left ALP government is taxing EV usage. It’s having a bit each way; no wonder they call him “each-way Albo”
