Josh Frydenberg. Out of his depth.

I've always said that I'll believe that Kooyong will fall when I see it. It's just unfathomable that Menzies' former seat will fall.

I'm starting to believe though, and it would symbolise just how far the LNP has drifted from Menzies' vision.
I think 50/50 at this stage, with every chance that it goes back to the Liberals in 2025.

They won’t get if they put up a joker like the just departed state member for kew Tim Smith?

And they wonder why they are on the nose?

one can only hope so. the present lot have dragged the libs into the pits.

a neoliberal & deceiver cast in the same mould as his leader.

The LNP won't go away, but they'll fragment like the ALP had, and increasingly be at the mercy of independents/minor parties. They need major reform to prevent that, but I just don't see it given their talent pool and 'nursery'.

RE The Fry preferencing ON ahead of a teal, I'm sure Kooyong voters will be thrilled about that. :drunk:

Really hard to tell TBH - The Fry seems to be trying his best to lose it. I'm not sure they'll go back to the LNP either, absent serious reform. If they have a relatively moderate leader in charge they will, but absent serious reform, maintaining it will be tough, and I can't see them voting for someone like ScoMo or Dud-ton. The problem the LNP has is that those types (religious nutters/drys) dominate the party now. There aren't too many wets left, the in-betweeners are scarce, and The Fry being defeated will deprive them of one of their most important wets.

That makes no sense, look at the last 20 - 30 years of election results.
I hope Frydenberg loses his seat, but the Liberals ain't going away.

The last 20-30 years of election results point to a decline in the LNP/ALP duopoly. I expect that to continue.

And I think that's a good thing for Australian democracy - more views being represented and 'the bastards' being kept honest. Look at how utterly toxic the two-party system is in the United States.

he wasn't saying they r going into oblivion just that it may force them 2 move away from extreme right mendacity of recent times - ala █████. hence using the words surviving "as we know it"

Maybe so, but they are going to be under increasing pressure as the baby boomers die out and the current younger generation comprises a higher percentage of the voting public.

Yes but we are seeing mega dollars from the likes of Palmer an Holmes-a-court. May not be a great development eupithr

You can’t compare Palmer & HaC.
Palmer is in it for self interest. He’s amusing himself & making bank.
HaC is trying to shake up the political system to effect better outcomes, for Australia & the planet, primarily in transitioning to green energy.
HaC is highly articulate & intelligent.
Clive was last seen at a forum of RW conspiracy theorists talking trash about vaccines & NWO nonsense.

Interesting take. My conversations with my neighbours all start with
"I think Josh is in trouble". Perhaps it is my bias and I am interpeting that as 'we are going to see the last of him'. I had dismissed your interpretation that 'the one we love will soon be gone'.

And I am in one of the most conservative parts of Hawthorn

The poshest booths swung thr hardest away from lnp in the last state election. Some double digit in there. Bloody toffs. Seems the culture wars don’t do a thing here.

I don't live there but all my conversations start with Josh is a lady part and go downhill from there

Taking this line isn’t doing him any favours. The people who’ve swung against will double down if anything.

I’m guessing his cushy private enterprise job is already sorted.

LNP don’t mind even encourage a protest vote if it’s right wing, so hugely hypocritical
