In a bizarre ruling by the WAFL the 2 week suspension handed out to Fremantle recruit Josh Treacy for a careless tackle in a WAFL scratch match last weekend now becomes a 4 week suspension. The crazy rule says that a suspension handed out in WAFL level must be served at that WAFL level and not at AFL level where he was likely due to make his debut this weekend. Now the rule gets more stupid because the WAFL season starts 2 weeks after the AFL season meaning he cannot play either WAFL or AFL for at least 4 weeks.
But wait there is more.................He can still play scratch matches even though he was suspended in a scratch match.
Bloody hell ............a 2 week suspension is a 2 week suspension. Not a 4 week suspension. Who gives a crap where he serves his time out as long as he does his 2 weeks. What would happen if the WAFL was delayed due to covid or something. Would he have to wait a year???
All because the WAFL cannot align dates to start the same time as AFL.
