The gap's not as great as it would seem even now, but it sure has widened in the last year or two since Kane has been coached into a shameless sheepdog.
Had he continued along the path of the hardnosed in-and-under tagger who could pop up for the odd goal I reckon they'd be about level at this point.
In 2005 when Kane made the AA team and finished a narrow 2nd to Tredders in the Port B&F as a 22-year old, he had three less disposals on average than 2008, but double the average clearances, an average of one more inside50 and a total of 13 more goals and 3 more assists. His kicking efficiency was also 8.6% better.
He just isn't damaging anymore.
