Is it just me or have the club already chosen Simmo as VC and are just taking a eff load of time to announce it? He was sitting in the spot where the VC would sit in the team photo wasn't he?

Come onnnnnn :):thumbsu:

Simpson's buddy page has just four pages.

Even Blake Bray has three pages in his first season as a scholarship holder :D.

Kade Simpson says it's time for Blues to stand up
Simpson said it was not just about having the right people in control of the right areas, but Ratten being able to delegate to that group.

"The way he has handed off responsibility to Brownie, JB and Richo has been super. He has welcomed those guys into the club and they have all been great since arriving," Simpson said.

"I have been doing some work with Richo, watching my tapes to see my running patterns and just trying to enhance my game."

"Of our leaders it's fair to say Marc Murphy, Bryce Gibbs, Jordan Russell and myself are not extroverted by nature," Simpson said.

"Chris Judd speaks for himself, Michael Jamieson has been fantastic and leadership comes naturally to Andrew Carazzo.

"Ratts has encouraged us to speak up even if we might feel uncomfortable.

"I just find it a bit harder in a meeting than on the field but as one of the older blokes and with a base to work from, I'm starting to feel more comfortable."

Great video Sin. I can never get tired of watching Simmo run in the open field like that. I just hope he (and Garlett) aren't too hard on themselves after the loss yesterday. I hope that they use it as a learning experience, and try and focus on being even better next week.

The fact that it was a draw is a saving grace. Had we ended up losing the game their screw-ups may have played on their minds a bit more, but, considering we still got 2 points out of the game, they hopefully won't be too hard on themselves.

Huh, I didn't even realize that I had called in a loss when I made that post. I guess it just proves how gutted I was after the game. I know that 2 points is better than none, but I really felt like we should have won it.

Kade Simpson is simply a magnificent footballer.

I feel he is too often criminally under-appreciated by Carlton fans, myself included. It is easy to forget Simmo's tireless efforts whilst we spend hour upon hour discussing the potential of players like Austin, Hampson and even Casboult, but in all honesty Simpson is essentially the heart and soul of this football club, week in, week out.

Despite his diminutive stature, he would have to be one of our best one-on-one players. He often out-marks taller opponents, but if he doesn't take the grab and ball hits the deck, he regularly keeps his feet and wins the contest at ground level.

He has a canny knack of finding space, which is a credit to his two-way gut-running, and is damaging by both hand and foot, as well as a fierce tackler, again belying his size.

He is a leader. He is courageous. He is a footballer.

Let's hope that the Carlton Football Club can put the accolade 'premiership player' alongside Kade Simpson's name. Because he deserves it, probably more than any other.

Yes homo.

Expectations for season 2011

It's hard to label what the expectations for Simmo where in 2011, coming off his best year to date in 2010, but still flying way under the radar, thanks to the attention paid to Juddy, Murphy, Gibbs and a whole host of other bigger names. Nevertheless the VC was out to show that as ever he is ridiculously consistent, now holding the consecutive games played for Carlton record, and that he can impact games when it counts.

Key Statistics
Season
- Games: 24
- Disposals: 22.3 (15 ki, 7.3 ha)
- Marks: 6.1
- Tackles: 3.3
- Goals: 17
- Inside 50's: 4.8

Overall Performance

Simmo had an impact on many games in 2011, and was involved in several crucial plays, including his brilliant handball to Russell to kick the winner against Adelaide and his brilliant long goal against Essendon, Round 3. While Simmo varied in output from game to game, not winning as much of the ball as he had last year, he remained a crucial part of our set up, being no.1 for inside 50's at the club, and at times making an impact up forward, kicking two sets of 3 for the year. His best game came at the death of the regular season against St Kilda, with Simmo racking up 40 touches, 16 marks and a goal, to be the only man actually trying to win for Carlton after half-time.

Where to From Here?

Simmo's consistency wavered at times this year, and it must be said that numerically his ability to consistently gather the ball is in question. Despite this, Kade's best attribute, his heart and dedication, saw him stand-out when was involved in play and it is hard to see him losing that suddenly. Given that he is known for simply not missing games, it is fair to assume that Simpson will just keep on playing next year, and will form a big part of our campaign.

Kade Simpson re-signs for two years
While there is much to be done on the field, Simpson has also dedicated himself to helping Down Syndrome Victoria as an ambassador.

The donations he generated from shaving his "Ned Kelly" beard last season went to DSV, and the relationship continued over summer.

"It all came about last year when I shaved the beard off for them. This year they approached the club about becoming an ambassador for them," he said.

"Now, any sort of events I can get to, I will. I am just trying to create a bit of awareness and exposure because they don't get a lot of publicity."

As part of World Down Syndrome Day, Simpson spent time on Friday at Melbourne's Federation Square, helping not-for-profit organisation e.motion21 deliver a dance and fitness program designed specifically for young people with Down syndrome.
