OK I suppose this is a message to all Collingwood supporters! This morning I have come across a couple of Collingwood supporters at my place of work boasting about our performance on the weekend and how we are top of the ladder! My message is seriously $hut up about it! Just keep quiet, enjoy the succuss we are having at the minute but please dont get over confident and ring up radio stations saying oh we are going to smash sides, we are the best etc. We need to just go about our business as usual and leave the side do the talking for us.

I've got a secret for you. Whether or not supporters boast about position on the ladder actually has no influence on the teams performance. The fact it might all go pear shaped is all the more reason to enjoy it while it lasts. If you want to shield yourself from disappointment go ahead but I can't blame people for living it up while our side is going so well.

So we can still brag and give our mates shit about being top though right? IS THAT OK WITH YOU?

We earned it mate you '$hutup' :p Being top of the ladder != guaranteed premiership, we know that... and what our supporters are doing will have no effect on the team (look at Geelong!!)

The lids off and I am going hard. I don't rock up every week with the plan that when we hit some good form I'll instantly down play it. I drop a Legends Membership yearly exactly for these great times.

Go hard brosefs. :thumbsu:

Each to their own.

Who are you to come on here and tell us how to talk football with our workmates?

I never get the keep a lid on it mentality either, Surely commen sense dictates that what people think or say about the side has no impact on how the side performs. Sure sides can get ahead of themselves and come crashing down but that is something that will happen with or without the fans getting carried away.

I personally don't go all guns blazing because I know in reality being on top of the ladder means not much, Geelong are still flag favourites and rightfully so, we are third in the beating and rightfully so. It's a close competition and it wasn't so long ago we drew with Melbourne so taking the lead off and getting ahead of yourself is certainly leaving yourself open to cop it back, some people like it that way, others don't each to their own. No real need to be telling others how to support or enjoy the teams success.

If we wanted to finish on top of the ladder we had to beat both StKilda and Geelong.

Despite Geelong dropping a game at the weekend, nothing has changed and the scenario remains unchanged. If we dont beat Geelong the chances are they will finish on top of the ladder - assuming all other results are in line with expectations.

Collingwood just need to ensure they dont drop a game against Richmond and Carlton. Then we can attack the Geelong game hard. What would be ideal is if our Round 22 game against the Hawks was a dead rubber and we had top spot sewn up by then.

For years, we have had to put up with getting bagged by supporters of other teams, even the shit ones like Richmond and Melbourne.

So when we have actually made it to a great position, like now, then it's time to celebrate and give a bit back, just for now.

Yes, we all know in the whole picture, the win on the weekend was just another win, but hey, we are on top, let's enjoy it while we can.

As I've stated in other threads, all we did the other day was prove we can beat a top 2 side, and we also all but sewed up a top 3 spot, which is going to be vital come September.

In the mean time, enjoy it.:D

You know that everyone will stick the knife in if we lose anyway, regardless of what we say, so have some fun.

I'll be going for the Hawks this Friday and if they can do the job, and we beat Geelong, we may just hold that spot. My hunch is we'll end 3rd.

Lid gone.

Inappropriate and ill timed punching of the air and shouting "**** yeah!" creeping into to conversation now.
Yelling "Carn the Pies" at total strangers in the street....some yell back in approval.

Need sedatives..................:D

...yelling into babies prams. Walking down the street in nothing but Collingwood socks, and moon walking into the super-market.

The lid is officially off, why wouldnt it be its round 16 and we are first we have to enjoy this

All I am concerned about at the moment is the list management, and the orderly coaching transition.

If these two things are kept in order, we won't have to worry about a lid, more a new cupboard to fit the premierships.

To my mind, this year it's a battle between the top 3, and next year we will probably see the Hawks in there. They are our big rivals because they also have youth on their side.

With a bit of luck, and the consistent improvement in the young players, we will do well.
