News

Carlton has included Luke Blackwell and Simon Wiggins in the squad to take on Brisbane in the NAB Cup Grand Final at the Dome on Saturday night. The Blues have also included Josh Kennedy. Kennedy missed last weeks game against the Kangaroos after he rolled his ankle at training on Friday morning.

Kennedy will train again with the team at 9.30am on Friday morning at MC Labour Park and if he successfully gets through the session he is expected to play on the weekend.
Carlton’s 28 man squad is as follows – 1. Andrew Walker, 2. Jordan Russell, 3. Marc Murphy, 4. Bryce Gibbs, 5. Josh Kennedy, 6. Kade Simpson, 7. Adam Bentick, 8. Lance Whitnall, 11. Cain Ackland, 12. Matthew Lappin, 13. Luke Blackwell, 14. Brad Fisher, 16. Shaun Grigg, 17. Setanta O’hAilpin, 18. Paul Bower, 19. Eddie Betts, 23. Adam Hartlett, 24. Nick Stevens, 25. Brendan Fevola, 28. Cameron Cloke, 29. Heath Scotland, 30. Jarrad Waite, 32. Bret Thornton, 33. Ryan Houlihan, 34. Simon Wiggins, 38. Ryan Jackson, 43. Anthony Koutoufides, 44. Andrew Carrazzo

I really think have an unchanged team, but perhaps Grigg or Kennedy in for Jackson.

Saddington and McLaren have been dropped.

Grigg, Hartlett, Bower and Jackson will miss out from the above squad. Hartlett only misses out due to the inclusion of another tall - Kennedy.

B: Russell O'hAilipin Thornton

HB: Walker Waite Gibbs

C: Scotland Stevens Simpson

HF: Houlihan Kennedy Fisher

F: Wiggins Fevola Betts

R: Ackland Murphy Bentick

Int: Whitnall Carrazzo Cloke Koutoufides Lappin Blackwell

Great to see Blackwell in the team. He showed a heap against Brissie last year. He's tough and talented. Desreves his spot.

My side would be:

B: Russell Ohalpin Thornton

HB: Scotland Waite Houlihan

C: Simpson Stevens Walker

HF: Gibbs Whitnall Harlett

FF: Betts Fevola Fisher

R: Ackland Murphy Bentick

Bench: Cloke, Kennedy, Kouta, Lappin, Carrazzo, * Grigg or Blackwell

Hartlett deserves to stay in the side and he'll be shattered if he gets dropped after getting through that match without doing his hammy. :thumbsd:

I agree Flint. I think he should be kept in the 24 as well. Did nothing wrong last week, and should be retained

Kennedy is too important and he shouldn't be risked for a pre-season game.

Still, the experience of playing in front of possibly 40,000 plus at TD would be invaluable.

Think there should be 2 changes for this weeks game

In: Kennedy, Blackwell
Out: Bower, Jackson

Would love to see Grigg get a game, but think it would be better for him to have another game with the Ants.

Have to agree with you, HBF. Given this is a GF we have to go with our current best 22. This is the one pre-season game where giving the kids a run is not the best option. Despite what transpired after our 2005 pre-season triumph, the club should be going all out to win on Saturday night. The prize money, the memberships, the belief that players like Bentick, Murphy, Simpson, Blackwell, Thornton, O'Hailpin, Gibbs & JK will get from winning a pressure game, makes it imperative that we put our best possible side on the field on Saturday night.

Should be a great game on Saturday night.
Would love to see 40,000+ people get to TD and make as much noise as they can for the mighty Blue Baggers.
