With today's news that Kerr may miss the rest of the season, along with the continuing troubles of Judd, have we got a better chance of beating the Eagles in Perth than next week?

Obviously they are still chock full of stars, and we still need to beat Richmond this week, but having those guys absent or below there best is a real fillip for our flickering finals campaign.

Could it happen?

Dreaming is a great thing.

You guys should be happy. We killed you guys in the first half and then tanked the game for those picks. So it was win win for both teams.

Finishing off with a few wins would do wonders for your young group. As much as its nice to load up with draft picks its much better to have a team with a strong winning culture and mentality.

It certainly helped the hawks as the came home with a rush last year. They would have went into pre-season with supreme confidence.

We are in a position to dream of picks 1 and 3.:thumbsu:

but they need to beat st.kilda this week for us to have a realistic chance

If we beat West Coast, where would that rate for upset wins we've inflicted?

I'd say Round 1 beating Adelaide was a massive upset.

Beating Port in 2004 was a shock. We'd lost 5 of our last 6 leading up to the game, they'd smashed us by 96 in Round 1 that year, and we'd lost our last 6 to them. As it turned out, it was Port's only loss in the last 14 games they played in 2004.

Not to mention if Adelaide beats Brisbane and Collingwood we need two 25 goal catch up percentage wins to get in front of Adelaide, percentage wise.

Realistically we need Brisbane to beat Adelaide in Adelaide and then Brisbane to lose to Geelong at the Gabba on top of Stkilda losing to West Coast this week for us to have a chance of the first week in September.

I don't give us a chance in the West Coast game anyway. With the planned celebration for Hird and Sheedy afterwards, you know that West Coast, even minus their mid feild cream, aren't going to be caught napping. Lynch will get a bag and that will that. Not to mention Richmond this week.

Winning against a pathetic depleted melbourne isn't really a confidence booster

I see your point, but be honest for a second. if essendon were in our position you would feel like i do.

No, not really. I would want my team to show they have some heart rather than play as though they aren't good enough and need players that aren't already in the club to win. No offense but picking players in the draft is as much a gamble as anything in the sport and I don't know any supporter that enjoys seeing their team losing (which is why you need to see a positive in your teams losses for which I can sympathise being an Essendon and 49ers fan has been difficult the last couple of years).

What terrible news .... Embley out ... woosha on the news over here last night saying he would rather rest judd/cousins if they are sore, even if they finish a position lower:cool:... And now the yellow cabs panelbeater of the year Kerr...

Well goodbye Supercoach semi final...

Just like your president did regarding sheedy. we all lie.

Everyone know's he lied, he admitted it himself, Ratten didn't lie, Carlton are just like what they've been for the past 5-6 years, a very average team who can't win games.

If they win, they're trying, if they throw away another game, it's tanking, we've seen it all before, take picks 1 & 4, you really, really need them.

i wouldnt worry about that... kerr out this week probably made it harder for us to make the finals imo

two things need to happen this week
1. st kilda loses to the weagles (they have richmond in round 22 and we are half a game behind them, would have to lose this week or our finals chances are pretty much gone even if we do win our next two)
2. we beat richmond

we always play well against the coasters... you never know what is going to happen
even last year our worst ever and there best ever we managed to push them all the way at subi.. if saints lose this week and we win then we are a big chance for finals..
