Cleve Hughes 194cm, 93kg. South Australian boy aswell. He kicked 6 goals against Port earlier in the year at AAMI and then followed it up with 3 goals to half time against the Blues. Unfortunatly he found himself out of the side after the Polak incident which he witnessed and was shoock up about it. He played the last 3 games for Coburg in the VFL before their season ended. Kicked 4 goals to half time last week. He is still only in his 3rd and is only 20/21.

Pros:
Excellent lead
Can play out of the square or up the ground
Ready made size
SA boy
Brilliant set shot for goal. He has a rediciouls goal kicking efficency rate

Cons:
A little bit one demensional in that he is very much a lead-mark-kick goal
Not great once the ball has hit the deck
Offers little defensive pressure

He was pick #24 and has shown alot more then alot of the other KP foward prospects from the same draft including Dowler, Edwards, etc

Straight swap for Griffen?

Johnny Segment - Re: Mitch Thorp

I realise that he has a few injuries but the fact remains that he is behind Franklin & Roughead and playing VFL. I can't see that changing any time soon! I also can't see Hawthorn playing three 195+ cm forwards in the one forward line.

I take note of your point that he could be used as a backman & could quite possibly be turned into one in the future but as it stands he is a forward. I have thrown it up as a trade possibility that he would be worth trying to pursue from a Melbourne supporters perspective as we don't have any big key forwards.

As for poaching, that’s what happens when you have talented young players not playing in your senior team, whether that is due to injury or available position.

I think the Hawks would drive a very hard deal & rightly so, but there is no point getting upset over my opinion of Melbourne attempting to trade for him.

It's a fair enough question to ask whether or not he'd leave, but realistically, how many players who've just signed a new contract move onto other clubs?

In the case of Kennedy - he was pushed by Carlton as they were desperate to get their hands on Judd.

As for Thorp - when he's fit and gets his body right, he'll be straight into the team.

Buddy and Roughy have elite agility for players of their size. The scary thing is, Thorp is just as mobile, if not more so than Roughy.

In an ideal world, Hawthorn would like to slot Dowler into the forward line on a flank, with Dowler down back/along a wing.

Great to have so much depth.

Will definitely come in handy when Gold Coast start wanting players.

You know you have a shit forward line when Courtney Johns will be an improvement

I'm not convinced that even Melbourne's pick 1 would be enough to get Thorp. It is entirely possible that the Hawks would look at Thorp and look at Jack Watts or Daniel Rich and say, 'Nope, we think Mitch is a better prospect'.

I'm convinced that the only person who would write this post is Mitch Thorp himself.

Hi Mitch!

Would the Bombers trade Gumbleton for pick 1?

Of course they bloody would! Gee I wonder - trade a guy who can barely string two games together because of injury... or have access to THE BEST undrafted kid in Australia. Tough one.

...and just remind me which undrafted kid it is that is clearly a better prospect than Gumbleton or Thorp?

the guy that turned his back on the club? yeah, i remember him.

Is telling a club that he wished to return to his home state in the future, but at the same time signing a 2 year contract which was played out at Adelaide. Turning his back on the club? Stenglein believed that was the right way to go about repaying The Adelaide Football Club giving the club 2 years to work out what to recieve in a trade. This he should be comended for, alot different to alot of players way of changing clubs.

Schlutz or Hughes from Richmond for Griffin would probably be a good deal for the Crows, probably more so Hughes, fair bit more upside on the kid. If they were looking at the West Coast guys, i reckon the only one they would look at would be Mckinley but would probably take Van Berlo in a trade to get him which the crows wouldn't part with. Either that or hope Lewis Johnston falls thru to pick 10.

I'd be interested in Cleve Hughes, really rate him as a lead up CHF, good on lead, strong mark and has always been a brilliant dead eyed dick at goal. We could do worse that is for sure.

But atm I'm all for Johnston with our first pick if possible.

Hansen + Seaby for Griffen + second round pick?

If that's a joke I apologise but if you are serious this is a summary of the trade:

An ok back up ruckman and an average tall forward who is hardly and improvement on their current forwards for probably the best, most skillful, line breaking midfielders in the comp ready to explode and to top it off Western Bulldogs have to cough up a 2nd rounder.

Hansen may be of interest if he comes cheap but he is not the type Bulldogs need to cough up heaps for. He is a deep leading forward he is similar to the likes of Johnson and Welsh Bulldogs need a genuine key forward.

I am talking about Griffin from Adelaide!
