Interesting to hear.

VERY seriously considered giving GC Buntine at 4 and wouldn't be a bad move.

Wouldn't surprise me to see it happen on draft day.

Should be out of Dom Tyson/ Matthew Buntine unless Chad Wingard drops for whatever reason.

I dont think it wouldnt be a bad idea if they went Buntine, with the delisting of three half backmen (Crawford, Ah Chee and Lock),and the underperforming of Toy and Harbrow.

Just depends on what Gold Coast think they need most.

Flankers may not be the highest priority but Buntine is seriously a good player and (hopefully) he will shine in these TAC finals as the top billing player he was touted before injury riddled the middle stages of his year (particularly during the champs).

I think you have Waylen Manson way too high. At this point I would have him nothing more than a mid to late round speculative pick. Yes he looks and moves like a smaller Naitanui but he doesn't have much exposed form and there are a lot of questions about him. I recon his ratstail haircut alone will knock him down a round or two.

You are probably right.

There are even some suggesting that Manson won't enter the draft. Will have to wait and see.

I don't have information on his personality or his willingness to relocate - so for the time being I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt but certainly from all i've heard relocation will likely be an issue.

Have not seen any footage. Would like to hear any info about him as a player if you have any.

The reason why I have him so high at this early stage is that his production is unbelieveable. In 2 colts games: 29 kicks, 20 marks, 12 goals 9. This is enough information to suggest that he can play and produce some serious results.

Will be playing around with his draft rating allot over the next couple of months because his draft position - if he does enter the draft could be anywhere.

Dont think Ess will target Jason Williams if he is so inconsistent and lacks in skill level.... would rather we target Bendigo's Ben Duscher or a project ruckman/key forward type...

Skill level fine. Has talent. Decision making not perfect - but you're not going to get a perfect player at 70 odd. Worth a shot late/rookie.

Duscher would be a good rookie choice for Ess.

Essendon will get Joe Daniher next year with 1st rounder. Is exactly the type you are describing so doubtful that you go for a similar type project ruck/KPF this year.

What the hell happened with him this year?

Some say he was highly rated (top 20) but has seemingly fallen off the radar to most.

Think he will still get drafted. Will be at the draft combine so is still on the radar of AFL clubs.

Form hasn't been terrible but just probably hasn't built on 2010 the way we expected considering some of the weapons at his disposal. Might have had some injury difficulties.

From memory didn't make the Metro squad so that probably hasn't helped and means he probably isn't on everyones radar.

Strong rumour in footballing circles that Gold Coast are seriously considering Matthew Buntine at 4.

Apprently they like his disposal, leadership credentials and allround footballing ability, add to that he could/should slot straight into the side come round 1.

Just a rumour, but take it with a grain of salt if you please.. would certainly throw the order out quite a bit.

Matthew Buntine to go at 4....would slot very nicely in the GC backline next year!!

he has nominated:http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/sport/a/-/wafl/10222921/sydney-finals-ban-on-mitchell/
Claremont colt Waylen Manson is firming as a high draft selection after five AFL clubs nominated him to attend the national draft combine in Melbourne in the days after the grand final.
Manson, 18, kicked 14 goals in two colts and one reserves matches for the Tigers last month before returning to his community at Kururrungku, about 180km south of Halls Creek.
Despite erroneous media reports that he had turned his back on football, the 195cm Manson nominated for the draft before returning home.
He will now attend the combine after the AFL clubs confirmed their interest this week.

I am surprised to see that you think Wingard could slide to Port at pick 6. I hope you are right but I'm intersted to know why you think he could slide from where you originally placed him at 3 to 6.

Knightmare, what are your thoughts in the following players...

Tom Downie
Nick O'Brien
Sebastien Ross
Coleman Schache

And you might not know much about this one, but Rory Taggert. Would love your thoughts.

Tom Downie I'm really keen on. Unsure where he will go on draft day but the potential is there for him to develop into a very high level ruckman. I'd drool over any 205cm b-baller and Downie is no exception.

Nick O'Brien can play. Like the way he presents at the footy. Always gives great effort out on the field. Am critical of his kicking. Needs some work. But clean that up and he can make the grade. 2nd rounder onward.

Sebastian Ross is a favourite of mine. Nice skill set. Doesn't look pressured. Gives nice tackling effort. Think he has the attributes to be a real player at the next level.

Schade is a big time midfielder at u18 level. Certainly in the mix. Unsure if/where he will get drafted.

Taggert is an interesting one. Not such a high profile one and from memory wasn't in the Country squad. Has a draft combine invite so is one clubs are looking at. Well built mid who has got among the goals in a couple of games this year. Will be interesting to see how he tests.

Not guaranteed but with recent rumours are that GWS want Dom Tyson and Gold Coast wanting Matthew Buntine.
Leaves open the possibility. Funnier things have happened. Would be a massive get for Port.A - only have to check out my power rankings to figure as much.

Cheers mate! Also do you think Scott Spriggs is a chance to get drafted? And I know he will go in the mini draft but what are your thoughts on Brad Crouch and where he would go in this years draft? I've got him top 5.

Its good to see some posters actually understand what adelaide needs and what our club is looking for. Other posters have no idea. One phantom draft is having Adelaide pick a tall with our first pick. I am not having a go at him or her, but it is definately not we need at the moment. Thanks Nightmare, at least you know you your stuff.

You have Wingard going at 6. I love you

I'm presuming you've also heard the Buntine whispers to GC as well?

WHat do you think of the chances the likes of Carey and the other GWS delistings will be redrafted?

Might have seen a couple of Spriggs games but not one i've really taken notes on. Maybe others have.

Crouch will be a top selection 10 selection in 2012, have him going around the 5 mark at this stage. Uncertain if he does go in the mini draft. Couple of others - O'Meara, Grundy, Stringer, Haynes, Garlett, Kennedy who would all be chances.
But certainly very ready to go physically. Real hard worker and one of those who will never die wondering. Future leader. Great all round game, good by hand and foot. Could step into an AFL side and play now if he wanted to. Allot to like.
In this years draft would go clear top 10. Would come into consideration at 3 for GWS. Whole top 5 or 6 is pretty even this year so not super clear.

Would recommend Richmond trade into that mini draft and bid for that 2 spot to get Crouch in the mini draft. Would be a great fit for their side.

Adel for mine probably most need another couple of high level mids then a quality HBF. Do that and you're probably on the way up again.

Ruckman could be handy for Adel but certainly not KPPs - even with Bock and Davis gone still have pretty solid KPPs down both ends. Maybe you take a key defender knowing your history of taking KPPs with those 1st rounders, but I wouldn't either. Better quality mids should still be available at your first selection - perhaps a Grigg or Kavanagh.

If only we had something to offer :(

What are the chances of Docherty becoming a midfielder?

Don't have a list of those GWS have delisted. Would be interested to see who they've cut.

Haven't seen allot of Carey in a couple of years. Thought in 09 he was worth a shot though. If cut from GWS unlikely that he will be on an AFL list next year, likely to have to work his way back up from VFL or wherever he signs.

One GWS delisting who could be worth a shot. Jimmi Savage. Athletic KPF who went home to SA due to homesickness this year. Ability is there and worth a shot in the rookie draft again this year whether it be for GWS or another club.

Haven't seen him through the midfield at any stage.

Too good down back to have playing midfield though. Much more suited to playing down back and is a big time weapon back there. Think Heath Shaw where he adds that rebound through his pace + skills but can also hold his man.

Docherty sounds really really good, we need some class down back to release Lids into the middle again.

Is it possible for Docherty to be this years Dyson Heppel?

Don't think he will be next years Rising Star.

But with that said think he might be one of the good ones to come out of this years draft.

After the top 10 would be one of those next couple I'd be looking at for a Melb/Rich/Freo/WBD/NM.

^^
I didn't mean the rising star, but as in could he be like Heppel in the way Heppel racks up touches and still keeps his opponent intact? Could he have an instant impact and have a role from day 1 like Heppel has?

Might not get as many touches as Heppell down back but certainly can accumulate, add rebound and hold his man. Good enough to play some games season 1 for mine.
