What your thoughts on tom lamb key forward I think what's he like

He's got a unique game does young Lamb. Can be a top 10 pick if he keeps producing and improving.

He's a tall flanker with versatility and some pace. Can go deeper and be a scoreboard threat and can equally push into the midfield.

With all the doubts on Mitch Clark, I would think they'd be looking fair and square at Peter Wright, who I hear had 5 goals to 3/4 time today.

If Melbourne move Clark then Wright is a logical pick and in my eyes the best talent. Just have to hope his back stays strong and he has a big chance to be a weapon in combination with Hogan if it works out that Melbourne end up with that top pick.

Could you imagine the uproar if Melbourne finished bottom, lost Frawley to FA (and got band 1 compo) and then got a PP as well, giving them picks 1, 2 and 3!

Not. Gunna. Happen.
If they get a PP it will be end of 1st round IMO.

Travelled to Highgate yesterday... some absolute top-notch key position talent around this year.

Collingwood are gonna get an absolute bargain in Darcy Moore. He dominated the Knights last week, and he was equally as good this week against the Rangers. Very smooth mover around the ground, and is very fast on the lead for someone his size. Would go top-10 easily if on the open market.

Peter Wright had 4 goals up to quarter-time I think... then was pretty well held after that by Tester (?) I think. His first quarter was completely and utterly dominant though, and his marking and set-shot goalkicking were first class. Everyone on here knows he is a gun though. Haha

Reece McKenzie is an interesting one. Knew nothing about him coming into the season. He is absolutely massive (196kg/100kg) but also has smarts and excellent movement for his size. He was equally as dominant as Wright yesterday in my opinion, and absolutely monstered his opponents when it was kicked to him 1-on-1 or on the lead. Apart from his 3 goals, I reckon he was part of at least another 5 goals from advantage free-kicks or bringing crumbers into the play.

Later in the game he was thrown in the ruck when the Knights were in trouble and was equally as dominant in that position too. Has quite a decent leap, and racked up a number hit-outs to advantage despite giving away 8cm to Kovacevic.

Watch this space with McKenzie... I reckon he is gonna be a big bolter this season, and I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a Vic Metro call-up based on what I've seen in the first 2 rounds.

Thanks for Report

Darcy Moore (Similar to Nathan Vardy) (Coll F/S): Highly touted big man who after a dominant u16 championships has received a lot of media attention but then has had his injury issues and has struggled to replicate that dominant play against stronger opposition since. Moore has played a little bit of everywhere. As a key forward, key defender and ruckman. The only position I’ve relatively seen something from Moore in is as a key forward where he has shown at his height that he’s an effective mark at times contested, on the lead and in the air. As a ruckman he’s a below average tap ruckman, followup work is below average and his ability to find the footy around the ground also is below average at this point. Then as a key defender Moore I’ve found has struggled to impact games as a shutdown only player who is reluctant to go after the ball himself or work to rebound.

I disagree working for the Rebound. What I saw from RD 1 that he was willing to run up the Ground to Create another Option then Run back to his Position in Defense.

His Follow Up Work must of Improved as looked good again in RD 1.

Would be good to seen that game on TV

Will keep an eye on Winton, Bampton, Lim and Dawson, they seem like typical Essendon selections of late.

Also a good year for KPF's, which is a definite need

Cheers for that mfcrox :thumbsu:. Is Peter Wright more of a "stay at home FF", or does he get on his bike more than say a Tippett?

I haven't seen a hell of a lot of him... but from what I saw yesterday in that first quarter (when he was tearing the Knights apart) he stayed inside the Forward 50, but Calder gave him plenty of space to work with and took his marks in front on the lead. His height and hands made him almost impossible to stop in that situation.

He did rotate through the ruck a little yesterday, but I didn't really notice him much around the ground to be honest.

Any thoughts on Kyle Langford?

Like Wright... I haven't seen a lot of Langford either, but he is a completely different sort of player.

Very lanky (190cm/73kg), and he is probably going to be more of wing/flanker I would say. He looks like he is a very good reader of the ball in flight, and pretty good overhead for someone so slight of frame. Disposal looks okay too, but again all of this is hard to judge from only the handful of games I've seen him play.

Definitely needs to fill-out a bit, but he is a young top-ager though according to the Footy Record, so he probably has a fair bit of growing left in him.

For all those that have seen a bit of McCartin, how does his kicking compare to John Butcher's?

With Butcher his ball drop and his timing of his kick is just plain awful and without consistency.

McCartin is less bad technically, but seems I feel to struggle with the moment of taking that kick sometimes.

Some guys iron out that set shot goalkicking. Roughead is a great example of this as someone who really used to struggle and he's as reliable as just about anyone. Then you have the Buddy's, Cloke's and others who don't have that same success.

McCartin's kicking will be of interest this year. No question and may determine where in that top 5 he features.

How on earth did Butcher go at pick #8 with an awful ball drop? How was he as a young prospect?

Cheers, sounds like he has more hope than Butcher of improving it then, which is encouraging. If we get him perhaps whoever has been working with Roo on his goalkicking of late will be able to help him out as well!

You've got a lot of overage players there RE. Certainly more than is allowed in the Champs.

I think the WA squad would be drawn from the following players give or take a few omissions.

Underage*

Overage**
That's a good list, eh? Think Barone is out for the season with an ACL. Damn shame because I think he'd have had a real crack at being one of the best inside mids from WA this year.

Thanks. Pretty broad list and still missing some of the lesser KPP's who might be a shake for a role.

I was wondering where Barone was. Shame because smalls need to really prove themselves in the champs to get recognition. Looks to be a below average year for Easts.

If he's had an ACL he'll be eligible in 2015 to play the champs as an overage player.

Is it Gilbee?

does reece have a basketball background that might explain his excellent movement
