Hi knightmare. Do you have any thoughts on Mitch White and Bailey Dale from the Stingrays? Both were gun juniors and have been named in the best a few times.

In Melbourne's case Knightmare. I think it's not out of their realm to take a chance on a speculative pick like a Bontempelli - like bolter. They seem to have all areas covered (midfield depth has improved in last years off season, forward line +Hogan will be a MASSIVE plus - disappointing about Mitch Clark, defence has been pretty well settled for some time now).

Im probably clutching at straws but think they could take a risk now. The reward could be huge for them.

Dale has some talent. Exceptionally quick outside type with a really long kick on him. Light body but has had a good month so you hope he can build on that.

White is a taller bigger body and probably of the two looks the better prospect at this stage with his ability through the midfield winning the footy. Could be a late/rookie choice with further improvement.

With Paul Roos as coach I imagine Melbourne go conservative. Either take a big bodied midfielder, key position player or trade the pick.

Melbourne have failed to this point developing their own talent despite high drafted selections so I'd highly recommend avoiding any high risk, high reward types with the key position players and Brayshaw as a mid early draft all strong picks early.

Late draft is where I'd be recommending Melbourne take the chance on some quicker outside types with the different between early and late draft outside types relatively less than what you'll find with key position players and onballers.

On whether there is room for a midfielder. There still isn't an A-grader in there. Brayshaw if drafted by Melbourne would probably become sooner rather than later their best midfielder. There is absolutely room for him.

As for key position players Frawley isn't a certainty to be back next season. Losing both Frawley and Clark in one season. I imagine they wouldn't say no if a key position player is considered the best available talent.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Dees attempt another Tyson-Salem-pick 2 trade this year. Something like downgrading our pick 4 (ish) for a player and a later first-round pick.

Hey Knightmare what can you tell me about Kerbatieh from Calder? Seems to be playing really well in the last few weeks. Heard he can kick it a fair way is this true?

Inconsistent developing player at this stage. Had a big game v Bendigo the other week where he kicked 5 goals which was promising and a sign there may be something there.

Has a good 60m kick on him but it lacks consistency.

it pains me to say this but i think GWS might just end up with pick 1 again now that brisbane beat carlton and faces the doggies and gws after that

Given GWS' recent poor form you could well be right.

The round 13 Brisbane v GWS result may answer that one for us.

Looking at their respective draws for the remainder of the season, I see a lot more "winnable" games for Brisbane than I do for GWS, the way they are both travelling at the moment. If our already long injury list continues to grow we may also give it a fair shake, given our far from easy draw.

GWS had their easier games pre-bye. Brisbane has a much easier draw post-bye.

Haven't looked at your respective draws pre-bye, but agree with your post bye assessment. Like you say GWS's draw was/is, our first half of the year draw was far easier than our 2nd half. Despite finishing bottom 3 last year, we somehow didn't draw any of the other bottom 4 teams from last year twice this year!

Thoughts on Zaine Corey? Seems to be having a good season?

He's showing that he can contribute as a role player.

Other scouts seem to like him so he's a draft chance but more as a late round selection as Lachie Hunter was for the Dogs a few years back.

Kind of off-topic (oh well ;)), but GWS has had Melbourne, Saints, Bulldogs, Richmond, Gold Coast already. Brisbane has only had Richmond, Gold Coast and Saints (and now Carlton), plus had one of the two toughest draws of any club to start with (possibly rivalled by Hawthorn - the premiers).

KM love your work every year.

With the dog's likely to have a pick around the 4-7 mark, I'm very interested in what type of player you think we most need, and who we might get.

Very much believe we will be going for best available with our first pick, but am unsure whether we will be going for a KPP (whoever is left out of the big 4), whether we go for a rebounding defender who plays in macca's style (Lever), or a good skillful (Duggan) or pacy (Pickett) mid.

What do you see the Dogs needing most and who do you think is the most likely from the above group (or others) to be making their way down to the Kennel?

A key position player would be optimal. If a Goddard is available that would be a great outcome. Patrick McCartin with the recent media talk of him going potentially even pick one probably isn't available but would be a great pick also.

If the talls aren't available Jarrod Pickett would be a really nice fit. Takes on the game just about every time he gets the ball and would give the Dogs something they don't presently have.

Duggan and Lever if picking from 7 onward would then come into calculations and be better picks in the 7-11 range.

KM - very impressed with Vic Metro big bodied boys yesterday against W.A. especially Petracca & Wright both awesome, Wright should go #1 for sure. Vic Metro was very well coached and played very good team footy by smashing W.A.
For W.A. was very impressed with Waterman, Walsh, Hardisty & Keitel in tough conditions against quality opposition.

Do you Think GWS take Wright as a ruckman considering they don't need forwards or do they take Durdin to sure up their defence

I'd be going Wright. He's the best talent in the draft.

If GWS want another key defender they can use their second or third round selection on someone with unusually strong depth of key position players this year.

Love watching David Swallow this season.

How does Heeney compare for scope and potential at the same age?

It's early to call, but given GWS's history of overpaying for the kids they want I wouldn't be surprised to see them grab Durdin with pick 1 if they want him. They went with O'Rourke, Plowman and Kelly, despite the grades on them all having others higher.

KM - I see S.A beat Vic Country today this has really made the comp interesting, any idea how Goddard, Lamb & McCartin went? Also who were the stand outs for S.A.?

Swallow had even more dominant performances on the board and against better competition so he's not as advanced as Swallow at the same stage and probably doesn't become as dominant as Swallow looks like he'll become, but Heeney looks like he'll be very, very good.

Didn't make the trip to SA for the game. Hopefully I'll at a later date get my hands on the game tape but have no further information for you at this stage.

no idea about Goddard and McCartin but apparently Lamb had a really quiet first half then sort of lost the plot for a couple of minutes and belted a bloke

Discipline issues. Should slip down to around the 20 mark *darteyes*
