Hey Knightmare

Difficult to understand how Waterman has dropped so much since April this year. I wonder if other teams and Waterman himself has held something back knowing that he is already going to be drafted by WC.

How to you compare and rate between Bradshaw and Waterman? Similar style of players.

Not sure which Bradshaw you're talking about?

It's not so much Waterman holding something back. He's performing well in the WAFL colts and finding the footy in bunches. He just hasn't played at the higher levels (reserves or league) which has been disappointing but on his play he hasn't shown the pace or hurt factor outside that you'd like to compliment his inside game.

Sorry Brayshaw Vs Waterman

Sorry Brayshaw Vs Waterman

Brayshaw is better rounded talent. Exceptional user of the footy. Genuinely two sided by both hand and foot. Can play forward and back as required. Not quick but is a better mover. Stronger mark up forward and more of a goalkicking threat. He's the clearly better talent of the two.

I assumed McKenna was the Irish guy on "The Recruit" who looks roughly ruck height.

In any case I don't know and haven't seen any of the international prospects to be able to make comment about their games.

I imagine some information will come out about them all around the time of the draft combine.

Knightmare there is a guy on the Recruit who looks the goods - Johann. Tall, quick, great endurance and seems to find the goals. I think he is about 21-23

Do you know much of him from prior draft years? Any reason he hasn't been drafted yet?

Hi KM,
What small defenders are the available in this year's draft? With Newman nearing the end and Morris a huge liability with ball in hand I'd be keen for us to look at replacements

Hey KM
What do you think Eddie Morris' chances are of getting rookie listed by a club looking for some extra midfield grunt ie: Carlton St Kilda Melbourne and North Melbourne ? Do you think him playing at casey improves his chances of getting a pot at The Dees ?

Haven't seen him play in a full game but in watching the program he looks the most likely to win the program. Could be a good get for a club as a free shot.

There are options. Capiron, Viojo-Rainbow, J.McGuinness, Wasley-Black, F.Watson, T.Grace, Lim. Any of these could be had mid-late with others from this group to slide into the rookie draft.

Viojo-Rainbow as a ball user would be a good option.

Edward Morris has improved as the season has progressed which is what you look for. Could be a possible depth midfielder for a club lacking options. Not out of the question he gets a chance if a club likes what they're seeing.

Who are the elite kicks of this draft; in terms of penetration, ball use, disposal efficiency (and anything else).

Yeah that's padraig lucey who looks a ruck. McKenna's pretty much everything you want in an Irish recruit. Athletic, skilled, very young so able to work on footy iq from a young age and has a willingness to come out. Having played/watched Gaelic for far longer than I've even known aussie rules existed I'm pretty confident he'll be one of the all time top 3-4 Irish recruits. Watch this space.

Pretty sure he kicked 4 against the ais-afl academy too a few months ago?
Better than Hanley?

Knightmare, so given that Collingwood has nose dived down the afl ladder in spectacular fashion and their first round pick is no longer likely to be around pick 12-14 but instead either pick or 7 or 8 now, can you see another club at pick 1-6 bidding on Moore and forcing Collingwood to use its first round pick?

Ahmat-Watkins kicked a lazy 12 goals yesterday - A star is born?

West won by 26 goals against the worst junior side ever to play SANFL Under 18's.

Still a good effort and he's getting fitter.

In the same game, Brett Turner kicked 6 as a midfielder.

As an update on Sam Durdin, he played League at CHB on an inexperienced opponent, but apart from one clanger, looked very comfortable and played well. He might go higher than expected.

Jess Warchman debuted but struggled a little against the bigger bodies.

Yeah Brisbane would we need another key forward

Hey KM
Just want your thoughts on Cameron Giles from Carlton. Do you think he will become a good AFL footballer ? Do you think he will become a very good rebounding defender ?

Sadly the Dees look to have pick 2 locked in - GWS could even pinch another win!! Can't get much worse considering we had a fairly low injury rate this season although arguably our best player Clark retired. So far 9 wins in 3 years (way exceeding the 2006 - 2012 PP rules)!!!! If Frawley goes its 2 and 3. No doubt the Dees will lobby for a PP so its possibly picks 2,3 and 4. The rights and wrongs of the PP are probably best argued elsewhere but while it exists its a possibility. At this stage it seems Petracca, Brayshaw, Wright and Stretch would be a great draft!!!! If decisions on PP and FA are made independently its possible but discussion will likely be more 'fan' heated than the supplements issue which the AFL will see as a welcome distraction!!!!

Its for this reason why the AFL need to change the rules and detach free agency compensation and priority picks from directly after that clubs pick in that round to instead be in at the middle or end of each draft round. So if you finish anywhere from 9th to 18th on the ladder your free agency compensation pick should be after each of the other non finalists have had their pick. In this case Melbourne would have picks 2 and then 11 (& 12 if they get a priority pick)

If a team that made the finals get a first round free agency comp selection, then that should come at the end of the first round.

If Melbourne get 2, 3 and 4 they'd be welcoming Petracca, Wright and Brayshaw to the Demons.
As bad as Melbourne are the AFL can't afford to give Melbourne 3 top 5 picks it's unfair on the rest of the teams that are rebuilding. It was bad enough when GWS and Gold Coast we're dominating the draft.

When you look at the cold, hard facts:

1. They'll finish 2nd last
2. Compensation is based on salary. Frawley gets what he's asking, that's band 1.
3. 9 wins in 3 years from a non-expansion club is definitely worthy of a first round priority pick.

While other rebuilding clubs may cry foul, it's fair enough.

How many losses are a direct (or indirect) result of tanking though? If you give priority pucks to clubs that lose on purpose you undermine everything.

So we're rewarding mediocre teams now I say Melbourne will only learn with a bit of tough love

They'll be doing every other team a favour by taking all the duds out of the draft. They have an extremely bad drafting history, no reason to change now ;)

Is it correct that unless a Club bids before Brisbanes 1st Pick, then Brisbane sit down at the F/S and Academy meeting and can auto select Hammelman, Dawson, Andrews and Ubergang with their 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Picks.

Is that the scenario?

I'm liking the read of this Harris Andrews but am i right in concluding that the only way another team can get one of the above 4, is to bid them before Brisbane's 1st Pick? (which obviously won't happen)
