Buddy is simply lucky he clipped the bloke and didn't make solid contact. Difference between 1 and 4 weeks

The AFL obviously wants the players to tackle and then gently place the opposition player on the ground so that he doesn't hurt himself. It's ridiculous.

They have set a very dangerous precedent here that will destroy the fabric of the game. They have virtually outlawed the bump, which at least players can avoid doing, but now they are beginning to outlaw hard tackling as well which players are expected to do by their coaches and is an unavoidable part of the game.

If you can't bump and you can't tackle with aggression what are the players supposed to do?

Corey,Kosi and Mummy all should've been cleared,as should Trengove. If we suspend players because the player they tackled got a bit of concussion do we then start suspending players who tackle a player and the tackled player does his knee ?
It's just bad luck.Maybe the players should organise a 'Tackle Free Round'

But if Duncan was Ko'd - how come he came back on too the field?

Concussion = you're done.

So I don't understand?

The reason he came back on was because he was the sub in the first place, and was activated when Bartel got KO'd by Pods.

If he was to stay off, we'd have been down to two players on the bench for two and a half quarters.

As it was, we ended up with no fit players on the bench since both Milburn and Kelly both picked up leg injuries, and both were played deep in the forward line in the last term so our midfielders could have a spell.

If every player who gets KO'd has to spend the rest of the game on the bench, why wouldn't a club recruit an ex-boxer, pop them in the centre and tell them to KO the opposition ruckman and on-ballers before the opening bounce? Voila, there goes the opposition's bench, and since the guy's not a footballer, you wouldn't care about how many weeks he gets.

Kosi tackled Duncan while he was in possession of the ball. Duncan didn't lose the ball in the tackle. Kosi didn't pin the arms in. He took the ball carrier to ground in a tackle... and he has copped 2 weeks.

He shouldn't have been reported, nor should Corey, nor Mumford against Ablett a couple of seasons ago, nor Mumford this weekend, nor Trengrove at the start of the year.

Tackling should not be a reportable offence!

Neither should have been cited for what are simply great tackles, these knobs are ruining the game ffs

This is the best summation I have read. Not Corey should have got x weeks because Kosi got y.

But thats the rule lol.

Concussion means you're out for the game.

No matter if you have 3 left on the bench or zero.

Their is no tolerance.

Are you saying Duncan was concussed but Geelong played him anyway?

Ludicrous decision, and I hate that the tackle is being looked at in such way....but...

Surely the act should be the thing the MRP look at, not the outcome.

Forget whether the player took his kick or not. Was the act intentional and showing no regard for the opponents safety?

In the Corey case, you can't honestly say he didn't willingly slam the guy into the ground when he didn't have to(Although I'm sure Cat's fan will try). It was two motions. He didn't have to move his weight and sling the bloke to the ground with such force.

If the AFL are going to come down on tackles like this, then the 'act' is what they should be judging the penalty on, not the outcome. it makes no sense.
If I get pulled over by the cops tomorrow for speeding in a school zone I don't get to say "yeah, but no one got hurt, so it's all good eh?".

Everyone was on notice after the Trengove tackle, and I'm not sure how you can do the same thing a month later and nothing comes of it for one player, but two others get weeks, unless of course, we're going to give every player that's not yet slung a bloke the opportunity to get one free attempt at doing it.

OP is spot on.

if kozi was a collingwood, wce, gc, adelaide or essendon player he would have got a free kick for holding the ball and wouldnt even be cited.

And Chri$$ Judd could spear tackle an umpire, leave him in a coma, and get 3 bonus Brownlow votes!!!!

There is no consistency at the MRP, but of course this is not news.

Maybe you should read the classifications? Corey's was dealt with almost exactly as Kosi's, Kosi has a shit record, Corey has a good one.

Sick of ignorant posters complaining about tribunal decisions with no knowledge of why.

'One bloke gets weeks, the other gets off!' is just wrong.

What you mean "almost exactly"? One or the other. Coreys was the worst tackle by far (slammed the guys upper body far more visciously into the turf), then Mumford then Kosi...who looked pretty close to a normal tackle

Only difference was the impact. Corey's left Stevens fine, Kosi's left Duncan in la-la-land.

It's not really important what they looked like to you.

Laughably corrupt is the AFL.

Makes FIFA look like angels some times.

Corey spears Steven's head into the ground, zero weeks. Could have been much worse than Kosis! AFLs love child geelong escape again. God it must be good to be a cats fan.

Joke, disgusting, corrupt, filthy.

The one thing people were saying about the Trengrove tackle was that both arms were pinned giving the tackled player no option.

Duncan chose to hang on to the ball and allow his head to hit the ground.
Duncan's failure to take any self preserving action should not amount to negligence on Kosi's behalf.
Thats what I'd argue to the tribunal anyway.
