So likely more than Cameron would cost us for pick 8 and a sweetener? That sounds somewhat optimistic

You’d be paying for Tanner Bruhn and some bargaining power over GWS. 15+20 for 8 is fair regardless. 6 was traded for 12+18 last season.

You’d still have 11, a future 1st, and some good players to trade for Cameron. I think you’re underestimating what you’ll pay for him though.

If you pick him up and play him in the forward line like we do, yes. As a tough tackling defensive minded mid you'd have a chance at a player.
Yep, this. Fogarty has shown promise as a little tough nut of a player but just struggles for opportunity in a team that already has Parfitt and Selwood in those roles.

I may be but that's still a terrible trade. I don't see how it gives us any leverage whatsoever either

Geelong fans, is this another Smedts and Lang?

He is much better than that but play him as the midfielder he is not a small forwardlike we do. I dont see him as elite but he will be at least a solid long term player with opportunities.

It's weird, your recruitment team never seem to nail their first pick, but get a lot of hits later in the draft.
They use later picks on kids and mature agers for whom they have a clear role in mind. They're not generally looking for playmakers. Makes it easier to find what you're looking for if you don't go in with high expectations.

They don't have any specific advantage in earlier picks where everyone is looking for the same things

That values fogarty at pretty much nothing points wise and hes not a player we want to get rid of 15 20 and fogarty for 8 and 30 would be fairer (maybe we throw in a late pick also)..only values fog at pick 50ish points wise but we can use 8 and 30 in the cameron deal and you can use 15 for saad and still have a first rounder.

For me cameron is similar to danger..top 10 pick + a R2 + a fringe player (not clear best 22 players like parfitt) more is overs and if they want to risk him going to the draft they can do that.

Gives you a selection before GWS at the ND, not that I think it’d get to that point anyway.

True..although i think we would need to tradeahead of essendon (for example gc pick 5) to have real leverage re getting cameron in the draft.

It won't get to that point but if it did then he wouldn't last too 8 anyway.

Your effectively giving 2x firsts and our best depth mid to draft a kid who has basically not played footy since u16s. Forgive me if I'm not enthused

We rarely get first picks, and even then they come at around fifteen-ish. I have been pretty happy with Jordan Clark this far, though.

I don’t think anyone could have predicted Cockatoo’s injury issues.

We would need to give something else with 8 if I didn’t make that clear.

Of our firsts:

Billie Smedts was talented but NQR, as you discovered.
Cockatoo is talented but chronically injured.
Jackson Thurlow was coming along very nicely but did his knee and became slow AF.
Menzel looked brilliant but yeah knees.
Darcy Lang.....um yeah dunno what happened there. He had the odd game where he looked AFL standard.....
Aside from the two kids we drafted last year, those are our only first round picks in the past 10 years according to the internet.

Yeah but your something else would be maybe pick 30 in a draft with only around 30 objectively draftable kids. I don't think that picks that late are really adding a great deal of value. Just don't see how a trade like that adds any value whatsoever for the cats

Everyone gets a first pick, not talking about first round.

30 is hardly a late pick. This is a good draft and the best recruiters will find some gems particularly taking Victorians. 30 is worth more than Fogarty I’d say.

15 + 20 + Fogarty for 8 and something else.

I don’t know enough about Fogarty to pin his worth in a trade.

whats something else.? Cause 15 and 20 is good enough for 8.. and it doesnt get us ahead of ess.. so I dont rate 8 that highly.

He has shown form in and around the ball..if Selwood misses game in2021 ..I think he will play. He is not a FP.. he is not a goal shark and his kicking is not strong enough for that role.

Maybe thats why it not worth us trading him.. He is contracted so you either pay a premium or it doesn't happen

Future second or 30 would be my guess. I reckon if it gets you Bruhn you’ll trade up, whether it be with us or the Bombers.
