As long as it doesn't ruin his fitness base and he is all ready to go in January then i suppose it isn't to bad. yet if i was a coach and got light of this story i would tell him to pull his head in a little, at least be home by 12-1, cause we don't need anymore trouble.
Getting pissed on one evening doesn't affect your fitness base.

Haha, good old Anth. Good thing he didn't drive home with all that breathalizing going on last night.:thumbsu:

Relax mate, he knows if he smiles at a camera it renders it useless. Just let him have the odd bender, we all need it.

Ow but seriously, its a sexy smile. I've seen girls MELT over it :p

Why is it disappointing ? The bloke is a human being. He is entitled to a break. The thing about professional sportsmen is that when they go home after 8 hrs at their office, they can't eat crap or drink. Here is a bloke who has some time off so lets his hair down and some tool says it's disappointning. You're even more of a waste of space for mentioning it. If I didn't know bettter I'd say you were some D grade journalist trying to crack it into the media by reporting a ridiculous story because a Collingwood player is involved. If I was to go to the media with everything that I saw at the Tunnel at the early 90's then there would've been a lot of players sacked. Let these blokes have some sort of private life and leave stories like this where they belong, 10 years time at a mates barbie. Believe me, early 90's at the Tunnel, 3AM, feet sticking to the carpet, AFL footballers were doing stuff that would get them sacked these days. And it wasn't because they were dancing on the piano.

I gotta admit, I've found this story particularly funny, but I have to disagree with you here. Rocca has done nothing wrong but you're wrong because you CAN go out and have a good time without getting absolutely blind as has been noted here. Its a bit more disappointing considering he is a more senior player, and personally has a wife and kids, compared to it being a younger player in his teens or early 20s.

I'd hate to think someone like Beams or Sidebottom hearing about it/seeing it because it DOES set a bad example for them. He might no get himself into shit by getting shitfaced, but they might, and he should set a better example by leaving that level of drunkeness at home.

All it would take is for one bozo to go upto him and start trouble, and he'll be in the wrong in the eyes of all journos because 'he was extremely intoxicated'.

As I've mentioned before, I don't think he's done anything wrong and has every right to enjoy his break, but its not really acceptable because it was only 4-5 months ago this club was thrown into turmoil over alcohol-related issues.

I don't know, i would think the turmoil was more to do with the driving home part of what happened, in that they used bad judgement.. broke the law and endangered lives. Its the decision to get in the car that was the problem, not the fact they had a few. In fact as far as I am concerned it would be far worse putting on a show and not allowing them to enjoy themselves, rather then let them show that it can be done responsibly.

Ryan, you've got it all wrong, and I feel duty bound to set the record straight.

Rocca was not drunk the other night, he was just over-excited because the ROCCAdemption thread had just won an award at the BigFooty Annual Awards, which took place that very evening - check the stickied thread if you need proof.

A few of us buddy reporters were out celebrating, and some BF posters who have strong links to the club (one even trains with the players) arranged for Rocca to join us for a drink.

When I say drink, let me make it perfectly clear that when Rocca was offered a drink he said; "I'll have whatever my buddy reporter's having"
She was having a diet tonic water with blackberry cordial, and that's precisely what Rocca drank for the entire night.

If anyone persists in suggesting otherwise, I will take it as a personal slur. I trust the matter is now closed.

Awesome Snag.

Last night I saw a footballer drunk, an accountant with a hooker, a lawyer doing some toot in the bathroom, a journo hitting on an underage boy, a fireman wearing womens underwear and a politician doing all of the above.

Who freaking cares?

Footballers like everyone else need to let their hair down. I hate these Brad-heads feeling the need to pass on every sighting of an AFL footballer and then passing judgement.

RTM....were your mates drunk? Had they had a few too many? Why were you out so bloody late? Shouldn't you have been home at 12-1am? Did you tell Anth how disappointing it was to see him enjoying his Xmas break? Would you rather he was at home studying game tape of Matthew Scarlett?

Seriously....its freaking Xmas. Let the man out. No drugs, no drink driving, no grabbing women, no fighting......makes a for very good Xmas break.

Good on him. :)

As long as he hasn't caused any trouble or done anything illegal I think he should be allowed to get on the piss. Sounds like a funny drunk, especially with the camera issue. :p

I know footballers probably do this all the time but I couldn't help but feel disappointed to see it personally. Probably a nothing thread.

I couldn't help but feel disappointed, if I had heard this off a thread on bigfooty, I wouldn't have felt disappointed, but seeing it made me feel disappointed, I can't help that feeling. I never said it was the wrong thing to do, in fact, I said that footballers probably do it all the time.

I'm "even more of a waste of space" for mentioning it? So are you saying Rocca is a waste of space? I'm no D grade journalist, but it doesn't take one to realise that you can't make sense to save your life.

Yeh I am trying to crack it into the media by publishing some story ridiculous story about a collingwood player.;)

I don't understand why half your post was about yourself and the encounters you've had with footballers, but good on ya. Here ya go:

I have no problem with him doing what he was, but, again, I couldn't help but feel disappointed, that was out of my control.

Would probably have been better had I not posted this thread, but if it really isn't that big of a deal, why have I been criticised so heavily for posting it?

This is all 100% true!
I was there, I saw it with my own eyes. I was down that way for the awards :thumbsu:
