Kilkenny said he's staying (won't be Leeds wothout at least 1 aussie in the team :)), Richardson's gone to Charlton and Beckford (linked with the toon) and Delph are going.

Should get a bit from those sales and all we need is a replacement striker, cm and rb. shouldn't be too hard to get some quality with the cash we'd splash around.

sure beckford's a big loss but he and delph were never going to stay and i'd rather sell him than lose him for free in a year.
All true. Kilkenny is certainly the best chance of the 3 of staying. Douglas has signed with Swindon Town in other news.

Beckford taken off transfer list. Doesn't mean a hell of a lot but it is good news nonetheless.

which basically means no-one was even close to our asking price

We still need a gun centre back ASAP, huntington has missed almost 12 months of football and i cant see him making an impact in the early months

Seeing as nobody has met the valuation, I think Leeds are better off just keeping Beckford and running the risk that he may leave on a free transfer in 12 months time. Come January, if the club finds itself out of the promotion race, then re-evaluate things and possibly reconsider the decision to hang onto him.

We have another Australian at Elland Road - Patrick Kisnorbo signs for 2 years on a free. Really happy with this signing, he has shown himself to be quality at Championship level, so I am expecting that he will be a star at this level. Pretty sure we had a serious look at him and took him on trial years ago when we were in the Premiership.

Good get with Kisnorbo. Surprised he has dropped down a division again.

What are you thoughts on Dan Harding? We've just signed him from Ipswich on a free transfer. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Reading and Pardew seemed to think he was one of their better players.

Good luck for the season anyway. We'll set up a League 1 thread on the main board in a week or so as there seems to be a few supporters around.

Harding was pretty raw when we had him. He seems to have progressed a bit since he left us, and left back has been a problem position for us ever since Ian Hart's prime. He will do well in League 1.

Would imagine we'll now shift one of our centre backs. What are the chances it's Lubo who may be heading out the door?

Ljubo to Coventry is the whisper

Although there are ongoing rumours that marques is off to portugal

Not convinced with Kisnorbo, i think its my lingering thoughts of the 07 Asian Cup display

Well if it's a choice of Lubo or Marques, Lubo is gone. But with Huntington coming back from injury we could at a stretch afford to ditch both. Especially with Parker able to play central too.

Same here. But firstly, this is League One, not the best of Asia. Secondly, how many of the Australian side could hold their head up after that tournament? How Graham Arnold still holds a coaching position with the national side after that shambles and then the utter mess he made of the Olyroos Beijing campaign staggers me.

:D
agreed

Would still like 3 more additions to the squad

- Holding Midfielder
- Striker - yes we have a few but i think we need one more of genuine Quality
- Another winger, behind snodgrass and robbo - we got nothing

Man Shitty the latest to be linked with Delph. As odd as this may sound, this is possibly a good thing. With their spending power, it will certainly inflate his price if he were to be sold. And if he did end up at City, they would more than likely loan him back out again to us as there is no way he will get a game in their midfield.

10+mil and get him back for the season? You'd almost have to take that, wouldn't ya?

The only problem that you should have with that deal is that Ken Bates will keep alot of the fee for his own use and not the clubs use.

He's pumped in how much of his own cash over the years?

zilch
10 million for delph and if we get him back on a season long loan is too good an offer to turn down, this will buy back thorp arch and bates will be telling us how wonderful it is..but i could go on for hours about that

10 million, plus keep the player

spend even 1-2 mil of that and we can buy undoubted quality for league 1..if/when this deal goes through, il be plonking plenty on us to get promoted..and i generally am the biggest leeds pessimist of them all

Goodbye Fab, thanks for your commitment even when Chelsea came calling all those years ago. You stayed loyal, served your time and gave us a solid season, im glad you went for the right reasons and wish you nothing but good fortune going forward. Future England star..will always be proud to say you were a leeds boy

What was the fee? When I heard it was still "undisclosed" has this changed?
About 8. F*cking Man City screwed us here, wanting a week to think about it. Idiots. He has been on the radar of clubs for over a year now. No chance Villa will loan him back to us as they have a rubbish squad and they need him. Man City wouldn't have used him this season. They were offering plenty more too. Nothing good comes out of Manchester, nothing!

Abusing city for not buying him. That's a new one on me.

6.5 mil up front, 1.5 in add ons..one of which is apparently representing england at senior level, something i have no doubt he will do

Beckford to West Brom doing the rounds also, would be awful to lose our two guns only days out from the start of the season

Disappointed? Yes. Surprised? Hell no. I'm surprised he was still at Leeds this close to the start of the season.

He had a brilliant first half of the season but ran out of puff in the second half. Will be a star, but if the 6.5mil is accurate then any club would be crazy to reject that for a player not proven above League 1.

Must keep Beckford though. Delph we could afford to lose. Beckford, I don't think we can.
