Leon davis for who?

I'm not a fan of trading away Davis.

Just can't get my head around wanting to trade away a player that has become a gun.

If he is traded though I would expect a 1st round pick minimum.

If Burgoyne is worth first pick + a very good player like Port are demanding, Davis is worth a first rounder. He is also contracted which makes it harder to move him.

He will prosper even more in 2010 with jolly directing it down from the ruck contests, ball taking some of the heat off him in the contested midfield battles and when resting up forward he will benefit from fev's crumbs

West Coast's first round draft pick ... pick 6 or 4 or whatever it is. I understand the calls 'Leon is crucial' 'Leon is just coming good' 'He is AA' 'One bad finals series should not have him ousted'... but trade him.

He is an outside mid/ forward pocket. We have enough of them. We have Didak, Thomas, Wellingham (though I would love for him to be traded), Johnson, Swan (partially), Pendlebury (partially), Sidebottom (partially) who can all play the outside midfield role. Davis has a high trade value and WC's pick would help us draft either a decent player, or trade for a Fevola, Ball or Jolly (all of whom IMO we desperately need).

I will keep saying this - hard nut players win premierships. Look at Geelong - Bartel, Selwood, Ablett, Corey, Chapman, Mooney, Scarlett, Harley. We have maybe two players that can compete with those bodies.

Look at the last time we won a premiership - Christian, Kelly, Crossica, Millane, Shaw, Francis, Brown. These are the players that win the flags.

Also, look at players who went missing in this years finals (and the GF). Davis, Johnson, Milne. It's not a coincidence.

Sorry, but Collingwood, Liverpool, Atletico... and Lyon? How can you choose (or inherit) three GREAT teams, and chose one absolutely smack team. Lyon? Just ignore France altogether, they are irrelevant.

Leon alone is worth more then Jolly.

I would not be putting in our 2nd round pick.

We need that pick to do a deal for Ball because clearly Luke is not worth pick 7.

It is interesting though.

They do say in order to maintain success or stay at the top for as long as possible, you trade out a "gun" player here and there to obtain quality youngsters and continue to build whilst playing for the now.

Pick 7 for Davis and Cox is more like it IMO.

Would be very hard to knock back pick 7- particularly as Hine would be licking his chops.

Can't see it happening though.

He is one of our own and always has been.

The main query I have, however, is we really need to get a pick or two to stay in the top half of this draft IMO.

If we do deals for Jolly and Ball we will most likely be left without 1st and 2nd round draft choices.

We need to get our hands on another 1st or at least a 2nd round selection.
