Port are a great team...no doubt about it.

However.....

One of their weaknesses is that they have a lot of front runners, a lot of players run forward of the ball.

In finals situations...players need to be much more accountable....and it is in finals that these players get found out.

Perfect example....Josh Francou on Licuria in the QF last year.

Saying that.....I don't think Port will make the same mistake twice. I think its almost guaranteed that they will make the grand final.

But I think they'll lose the grand final....not enough experience at the MCG.

Just my opinion!

Whats the odds on an all VIC grand final lol ?

Lets be honest if port reach the grand final it will be an achievement for them, they havent even been close before, remember that pantsin' that got in the prelim in brissy last year after just scrapping past Essendon last year in the semi final, embarrassing for sure.

I do think he mean in terms of support. In fact he probably would be right, as both Brisbane and Sydney have fantastic support at the MCG.

Although Sydney's and Brisbane's records on the MCG are quite impressive for an away team.

Sydney has won 5 of their last 10 at the MCG.

Brisbane has won 6 of their last 10 at the MCG including their last 5 matches.

Port has won 4 of their 15 matches at the MCG. (including 3 out of their last 10)

And how many of those 15 matches at the MCG are relevant?? A lot of those games were in our forming years when we werent overly good and playing good sides there.
In the last 3 years when weve had a good side weve:
in 2001 we won our only game there.
Last year we lost our only game there.
This year we are 1-1.

So 2-2 in the last 3 years at the MCG isnt overly bad.

Just scraping past Essendon? We beat them by 4 goals. 8 goals to 3 in the 2nd half shows me we didnt scrape past everyone.

And also, how many teams have beaten Brisbane in a final at the Gabba? Ill give you a clue. ZERO!!! We arent the only team to have been well beaten by Brisbane at the Gabba in a final.

Their first round opponent at AAMI will most likely be Adelaide or Collingwood, (both teams traditionally bogey sides for Port)

Adelaide hasnt beaten us in amatch since early 2000...which we were also leading by 40 points at one stage. Weve beaten them in 6 matches since then. I hardly see how Adelaide could classify as the bogey side for us.

whatever helps you sleep at night:rolleyes: :D ;)

It won't matter who Port has beaten and not beaten, because all the wins and loses are gone after Round.22 and a new "season" starts. So no one has beaten anyone until the end of the first week of the finals. Port are looking good, it depends on how they play in their first finals match this year.

Ok, so i'm an idiot. Case closed. :(

I suppose what I was getting at was that Adelaide-Port games are generally heated affairs where anything can happen- I know I'd never pencil in a win against Freo for that same reason.

I think Port can win the GF. Obviously, I prefer Brisbane's chances, but won't be too upset if Port DO win. Makes the competition interesting. Will also reveal whether they can build an era. Probably not. With their ageing squad, this may be their last chance for a while. This can be a positive for their blokes who are on their last legs.

Don't subscribe to the 'choker' theory. If they win their first final this year, all this will be forgotten. Brisbane used to be known as the team which couldn't play at the MCG.

Not sure they've got enough **** in them. Tend to fold when someone else's gameplan out-thinks their's. This is down to the coach. Certainly have the cattle though.

I think the biggest factor militating against them is that their stars, like Tredrea, aren't just capable of having shockers, they almost literally don't turn up.
