Hey guys im sure most of you are aware of our Member Get Member thing we have going on at the moment.
I think this is a great way to get our numbers up for next year.

I am already on the backs of a few people I know and I will be sending their details to the club on the info sheet that was sent out to all the members.
The club will then send them info on our membership packages to read through.

If anyone here is not a member speak up, no-one will have a go at you.

Or if anyone here knows other St Kilda supporters let us know if you are trying to sign them up, cause every membership helps.

Let us know if you help sign up a member or if you have done so in previous years also??

Well I would certainly hope that no one would have a go at me because money was going to medication as opposed to membership, or I'd have felt slightly unwanted. :p

Now is perhaps not the best time though, what with Christmas shopping and such starting to become more important. Generally I tend to budget afterwards for the next years expenses.

I am not a member, but this is looking like the year for it. ( I already have someone lined up to give the $20 bucks to).

Despite the current economic woes , I am on a fixed Salary and my mortgage is as comfortable as it has ever been for a long long time.
Next year I will have access to free babysitting.
Add to this that there is bugger all free to air TV for the Saints this year. If I get the basic membership I can see all of the Melbourne based games except 4 either live or on TV. So if my wife and I both join it is still a lot cheaper than Foxtel.
I just need to get it rubber stamped by the financial committee ( OK I have to convince my wife ).

I just get a family member (mum) to get it for me each year. It's a good birthday present and has been so for the last number of years.
Works well for me coz my birthday is in january and I don't bother much about xmas.

Get on board the saints train one of these days it will happen the big one will be ours.I only hope it"s soon before i go to grey??;):):thumbsu:

Yes jump on brothers and sisters. L2M4G will shout all new members a free beverage in Round 1.

I have filled out mine and have sent it back to the club, i'm donating half of it to the club and the rest to the club's Heritage mueseum.

Does this mean we have to lick the slops off the bar in round one brother.YUK? You supply the straws:thumbsu:

Tis cool. I have invested said winnings in registering the trademark "redheads do it better" for when Tom "Lynchy" Lynch and Ben "Macca" McEvoy do the stuff in 2009.

I have already renewed my membership. Unfortunley, the health of the economy is going to make it very hard for St.kilda to boost their membership tally in 2009. Most clubs might struggle to make a profit next year, with only the big clubs looking well placed to make money. At least the Saints have a major sponsor...

Great idea we could even get rid of the Tony Locket end and re-name it the Ginger Nut Pocket:thumbsu::D

I was hoping everytime we snaffled a sausage roll we could play "Come on Baby light my fire".

i know a few saints fans who feel abandonned by the club due to the move from moorabbin. when a team leaves its demographic, most times fans will be lost.

Hawthorn was lucky it didnt have many fans in glennferrie/hawthorn, and most were in the mulgrave area.

You are aware that we moved to Moorabbin from the Junction Oval at the start of the 1965 season? Do you not think some of our supporters wouldn't have felt abandoned then? The decision to move to Waverley was hardly popular at the time but you only have to look at the attendances we were drawing before the move to Docklands to see that many of our supporters embraced the move.

And to be fair, we have hardly left or abandoned our demographic. We're actually staying true to our major demographic, the southern or bayside suburbs, by aligning ourselves with Sandringham and establishing our training base in Seaford.

No, I think you can put any potential fall in membership down to the credit crunch and a terrible draw full of sunday games. The fact we don't play a home game against a Victorian team until round 6 won't help either but that would be cancelled out by a successful start to the season.

If the strategy was to attract as many supporters as possible from the Moorabbin area I wouldn't see a great future in the club. I think AFL demographic is a lot bigger than that.
And it is only the training ground and HQ, many supporters would never have been there.

I am pretty sure they said on the national news last night that our membership was up on this time last year?

That's what you have separate credit cards for.

Well we're currently sitting just over 10,000 and according to West of Moorabbin we were sitting on 18,000 on December 21 (close of memberships for the year) so it will be interesting to see where we're at next Friday. There will definitely be a big rush as reserved seat renewals have to be in by then and there's also the free Robert Harvey DVD for all membership purchases by then.

It's going to depend on our on-field performance really. The Sunday games aren't going to help us, nor is having our first 3 home games against interstate clubs, but if we start the season winning games and playing attractive footy the memberships will flood in.

Sainter is correct.

You would remember after the NAB pre-season cup win and round one, St.kilda were on track to break their all time membership tally in 2008. Then after unattractive losses to Western Bulldogs and Geelong, the membership drive stalled to a crab walk. Then for the next several rounds St.kilda were not winning matches, and were drawing heavy criticisms for their ugly game plan. By the time the membership deadline approached, it looked like St.kilda would not be seeing finals action in 2008.

Hopefully that will not be repeated.

yep - a lot of our supporters wait to see how they think we'll go before signing up.

we really need a good start to the year to boost numbers - a good game against the swans would be nice (ie not a mind-numbing, boring, shutdown game)

will sign up tomorrow - got my reminder email from the club today

I'll be right there with you.

A bit of 1300 GO SAINTS action for me. (Got a few details that need amending!)
