With the Pies playing fantastic footy at the moment, and a full team to pick from, things are looking great.
But we are still 4 weeks away from the sprint home.............FINALS.

As i have stated in previous threads.if we can get to the finals playing at our peak, and a full list to pick from we will be primed to win the flag.
But i just hope we have not peaked to early. If the finals were now i would be extremely confidant we could take out the flag, but we still have 4 weeks to go,with Geelong,Essendon,Adelaide and Hawthorn to go.

I just can't stand the thought of getting to another September and limping into the finals then just getting smashed out.
Doubt whether this will happen this year, but let's keep the lid on for a while and if we can firstly get to finals in our current form, with a strong group, then anything is possible.

Notice on current form Geelong ,Stkilda, and Bulldogs are no where near their best yet.Geelong and Stkilda will improve not sure about the Bulldogs.

Come September the call to all pies players should be,take no prisoners,
Smash all competition,no let up for 4 quarters.Keep that steely attitude till we can hold that premiership cup aloft, and the dynasty begins !
Till then shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !

Your thoughts !

Oh I thought you were going to tell us how we were going to start a dynasty in 2010, and Geelong abd st.kilda were finished

Rubbish, enjoying a football season isn't something you can only do in the retrospective! The team's playing awesome football at the moment and is an absolute pleasure and excitement to watch every week. No need to claim we're dead certs for the flag but no need to talk down our chances either. Enjoy the ride one week at a time!

I have never understood the notion that a side peaks too early. You need to win to get there in the first place, which in turn promotes a winning culture and a positive one at that. Confidence in sport is a massive factor and can sometimes override the difference in skill between one team and another.

what's the point of dropping games on the road to the big dance. The only thing it does is points out defincies in a team. Isn't it better to reach the finals series having no deficiences?

Meh, I like to enjoy it when the boys are playing aswell as they are, they're in some red hot form, and look almost faultless, so why not soak it up while we can?

Keeping a lid on it doesn't influence the chances of getting to another September and limping into the finals then just getting smashed out.

I agree.

It was Eddie McGuire himself who only last week said something like; "The team has to keep a lid on it, but the supporters sure as hell don't".

We have permission from the Chief.:thumbsu::D

And I haven't seen anything to suggest that we have the lid off anyway :\

Bulldogs are playing their best, as is Geelong over the last two rounds. Aside from the aberration in Adelaide, Geelong are in fine form without a doubt and are dispatching teams with clinical efficiency.

Saints have hit a big block, they've been found out over the past month and I just don't see them pushing far into September this year. Almost hoping we finish 2, just so we'd get to play them first week of finals.

Agree.

Doesn't matter if it's good form, bad form or mediocre form. I really believe that our best is better than any other team.

I also believe that the playing group has the will and resolve to do their absolute best. I'm confident we can go far this year.

Pretty sure random forum posters on a footy forum getting over excited 4 weeks from finals isn't going to have too much of an impact on the teams performance.

If you choose to get excited, get excited. If you choose to remain cautiously optimistic (like me) then do that too.

I mean, I think I've taken big steps this year in my therapy. I'm actually tipping Collingwood most weeks now, and even had zero doubt about the result against Richmond and Carlton. Both a first for me.

I even think we might just beat Geelong.

And look how much more fun you've had as a result.:p

And yes, we'll beat Geelong. The scent of wounded Cat is seeping out of Skilled Stadium.

I have a story. The Monday after we drew with Melbourne I went to some $2 chinese shop. At the counter they were selling $1 good luck coins, I bought one and since then well.. we haven't lost a game. I'd advise all of you too buy one. :)

You obviously haven't made an appearance in The Nest yet.

Premiership Door Opening More Than a Crack

Adnwit won't matter anyway cos other supporters are going to give us shit anyway if we don't win it so enjoy it while you can.

I've always had fun at the footy. ALWAYS.

I just get upset very easily. I demand perfection, and I believe I'm entitled to. Given the money I pay every year, the bragging that comes from our club, the resources at their disposal etc. etc.

I mean, I had an argument with my uncle because we only won by 48 points after letting them back in it. He said I should be happy.

I asked him:

"Would Geelong have been happy with the way that game ended if they were in our position?"

He didn't really have an answer for that. And that's what makes the difference between a good side, and a premiership side. When you have a team by the jugular, you take that killing bite. Especially when it's Carlton.

My lid is off.

I booked flights this morning to Melbourne for Friday morning on the 17th of September and again on the 24th September.

Making arrangments for GF tickets already!

1 geelong lost to carlton
2 later that night geelong did something very similar to sydney

Its called keeping things in reserve until you need it, why push ourselves against a side we clealry dominate at half speed anyway

We are supporters, we cant keep the lid on it not with the form this season. We will win the flag this year regardless of what happens on Saturday against the Cats.

While I was keen to see us pile on another 10 goals, I noted immediately and accepted that we switched off in the last and played conservative footy.

If it was any other side I would not have thought anyone would even comment.

Only wins are of any use to the Pies. Percentage is irrelevant.

I am so going to do this.

We get roughly 6 months of footy throughout the year. Why must we wait until after winning a Grand Final to be rapt in the way our team are playing? I say, remove the lid, and throw it super hard at Carlton, so that their supporters can slowly suffocate under it while celebrating their fab fours consistent brilliance, and all their stars.. Like all of you, I hope we make good this year and go all the way. If we don't, I'll be super pissed off. But after a few weeks, I'll watch the replays of the many games we've played this year, where we've been able to destroy teams like the Saints, Hawks and especially Carlton, and know that we are better prepared to win a flag in 2011. Celebrate whenever u feel like it, It won't have any effect on how the boys go this year or next.
