So both are young kids coming through, both have had their doubters. Levi is starting to show why he is going to be the best contested mark in the comp, although he has already. His kicking has improved in leaps and bounds as well, and is starting to show he has a big tank.

Vickery could be anything, a tall FF, can play in the ruck as a pinch hitter and is agile, seems to be a whipping boy, but has shown glimpses of what he is capable of.

Simple question, pick one for your team, which one would you chose? And why?

For all this talk about Levi taking lots of marks, TV still takes more in the forward 50 and is almost averaging more than double the goals this season...

I don't think it's talk about Levi "taking lots of marks"; more so his ability to take a big pack mark. FWIW he does take plenty more marks than Vickery though and three times as many contested this season overall. He has taken one less mark I50 than Vick this season because he gets up the ground more.

Btw Vickery not averaging twice as many goals, a little under that.

You would have to Throw in Cotchin for me to want Vickery.... does that answer it?

Vickery's best has been better than Casboults - from what I've see. Vickery hasn't played his best this season, but last weeks 4 goal tally might be the confidence boost he's been looking for. Vickery for now.

Levi has played 2 more games than TV, so averages instead of total gives a better indication.

no way would the blues trade casboult for vickery ... while the tigers would jump @ the chance to go the other way

sorry tigers we only trade the players we do not want .... kane lucas ?

I would still take Vickery.

Strange reply that changes nothing I posted and ignores most of it.

But FWIW both averages and totals give a better indication over any single measure IMO.
2 games is massive when we are looking at 10-12 games played, so of course averages is going to be the better indicator.
But large enough sample space to not show massive anomalies in the data. You can also match this up on previous years averages and see the trend in the data over their careers.

If we went by totals, levi is the 9th best contested mark in the league, and I dont think many would say there is a better pack mark than him. (McGovern maybe, but then his averages can be called into question due to small sample space and no prior data).

1.9 goals to 1.1 is almost double and a little under.

I don't know if there is a time in forward 50 stat, but your probably right Levi does seem to take lots of marks on smaller wingman up the ground ;)

BTW I didn't vote as I have them about equal. Will be interesting to see the progression in a year or two.

No. The better indicator hands down is both together. You don't understand less by having more information.

He's taken the 9th most contested marks. Doesn't make 9th best any more than one player having more kicks than another player makes him a better kick.

Still, Levi takes three times as many CM's by total over Vickery and well over twice as many by average. Takes more marks overall as well. Your wingman comment is just silly. He's followed up the ground by his defender. It's just his role is to get more upfield, hence Tyrone's one more mark I50 this year.

You said double. It's not double. In fact, the difference percentage wise to that claim is actually very close to the difference between games from Levi to Vickery, which you seem to think is significant enough to raise objection.

Don't think I have seen Vickery take a pack mark like Levi does, I could be wrong.

Ok, then how is total a better indication over average in this case? Or why would you even look at total when you have averages?
Unless you were looking at it in terms of how it is effecting the team on the ground. But then you would have to go through and see how many marks Levi has taken in games you won and how many in games you lost and then do the same with TV as well. But I thought this was a more one on one thing than value to given team based of games played and influence on the teams outcomes.

My marking comments were stating that exact thing, totals in a lot of cases are a load of crap.

I never said double, you can go back and read again if you want, it says "and is almost averaging more than double the goals this season". You love to quote my posts, but cant even get the one fact right you have been harping on about for most of the time.

And my wingman comment was a joke, thus the winky face...

What a strange phrasing. He's not even averaging double, why the need for the "more than"?

Not a slight on Casboult but I doubt we'd have any interest in him as a trade target. We have quite a few younger KPFs already on the list around the same age as Casboult (or younger) - outside of Riewoldt and Vickery, we have Griffiths who's shown a bit this season after finally getting over injuries, Elton (1 senior game but reportedly making progress in the VFL this year) and McBean (a ruck who plays more like a crumbing forward), so unless we moved a few of them on, I don't think we'd need to add another KPF to the list.

Given the scrutiny our recruiting of players from other clubs has come under this season, I think most Tiger fans would rather the coaches give chances to players already on the list rather than recruits from other clubs (unless they are high profile additions).

IMO, we'd be (should be) more interested in looking at midfielders at the trade table.

It would be pretty silly for you guys to trade in another mediocre player... you have been doing this for some time now and i think its really slowing you guys down....

Without wanting to go off topic too much I think our coaching set up is a bigger concern than our actual recruiting/drafting
