AWWWWWWW **** IT.

Can't help myself.

Kreuzer is officially back

Murphy is the form player of the comp

We have 2 players in the top 5 goalkickers in the comp

Jamison is pretty much AA FB at this point

We are sitting 3rd and just blew what is typically a very respectable side away for 3 quarters before Ellard, Touhy got injured and Kreuzer spent almost the entire fourth on the bench.

We have Waite, Warnock, Bower, Mclean, Laidler all in the wings raring to go.

We are a legitimate contender and I AM GOING TO SCREAM IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS.

It isn't exactly a secret.

Main board has been buzzing about us for a month at least. Journalists are clambering on to the bandwagon so fast you'd think someone had stashed Miss Duthie aboard. Collingwood fans are afraid of us again.

The signs of our rise are there. We are a shot this year. Maybe even better next year.

The Blues travelling along very nicely at the moment. Looking forward to a challenge against Collingwood. We are all excited but lets calm down a bit. :thumbsu::D

Keep the lid on.

We are playing some outstanding football at the moment but things can change pretty quickly.

Cannot afford to get ahead of ourselves as things can turn pear shaped, and whilst it would seem we are certainties to finish in the top 4, we can't ease up and leave anything to chance.

Next week is another huge challenge and we have to be focused from siren to siren or else some of our good work of the past month is undone.

Having said all that, it is getting more challenging by the week to keep the lid on. Just a wonderful time to be a Carlton supporter.

I'm not one for emotional threads or posts.

But I've never seen our boys go all the way. I was only 4 in 95' :o and I have been a stoic lover of the boys through the roughest of times. Now we are on the cusp of something. I can taste in the air. The team is ready, we are contenders, and it feels DAMN good

All this lid on lid off stuff sounds like a crock...

Whether we like it or not, the lids been blown way off.

Let's just roll with it.

I might even go so far as to say that the cat is out of the bag...

completely screwed up Schroedinger's experiment I can tell you...

Someone should probably call the RSPCA on that guy. Cat after cat after cat in the same box. I know science needs to be repeatable and results have to be cross-referenced, but seriously he is just doing it for fun now

Don't see what the big deal is, we have no use for Lids around here...

By the way, nice hair, Brett. Seriously WTF is that?

They certainly can, but the fortunate thing is that we can largely cover for most positions on the ground.

Hampson goes out next week? No problem as Warnock comes back.
Tuohy is injured? No problem, we'll slot Laidler back to where he was doing so well.
Lacking leg speed? Armfield steps in and hopefully Lucas is not too far away.

We wouldn't want to push our depth, but we're fortunate to be able to cover most bases without a huge step backwards.
That is a pleasing fact.

I have to admit, my lid shot off and hit the ceiling during the game today. Mostly it was Kreuzer that had me cackling like a homeless person who just found a crate of whisky under my bench, but overall, it was just the whole navy blue cast. Not a weak link out there.

Murph IS elite, no more almost. Jamo an out and out star, Robbo the barometer of our new found toughness, Duigan ... oh Duigan, where have you been all my life?

Yazz the excitement machine and all the willing workers like the hard as nails Ellard that just have 1%ers coming out of their cavities. The irrepressible was we go about it is stuff I can barely remember.

Yeah, I have to sand back and paint the ceiling and the lid has been replaced again, but for a moment or twenty today, I threw all caution to the wind.

Carlton, meanwhile, has something even Collingwood and the Cats can't boast to nearly the same extent, namely, the scope for further improvement.

It was a point driven home forcefully in Kreuzer's sensational game against the Swans, which saw him a key player in three separate guises, genuine ruckman, mobile on-baller who finished with 24 disposals, and as a forward with a couple of timely goals.

Carlton has enviable depth these days, the reason an injury to Shaun Hampson yesterday caused next to no anxiety. Why would it, when the Blues have the quality of a Robert Warnock ready to step in instead? And, for that matter, further potential inclusions the calibre of Jarrad Waite up forward or Jeremy Laidler in defence.

Losing Hampson after he'd finally hit form isn't good news. :(

I hope Lucas can get in form to improve our legspeed and depth for September.

Greg Baum: Carlton is going places
CARLTON'S change rooms have a feel not quite like any other. It might be that single, unambiguous colour: the old, dark navy blue. In the dog days, it is the colour of depression. But when the good times begin to roll, it is colour that makes its own sound. That sound, rumbling up from inside a proud club, is best characterised as a growl. The Blues were growling last night.

It has been 10 years or more, but, at last, everyone that comes up against them knows again that they've been playing against the famous old dark Blues.

I like that Kreuzer described himself as a tall forward in that article.

When we win the flag I vote a Carlton BF meet at Fed Square. Hundreds of posters banging away at each other on lappies in total silence. :thumbsu:

I'm not so sure I could be that quiet Thy.
The lappie I'd be tending to would be making more noise than any computer. :o

We are going really well but until we beat Collingwood and Geelong the lid is on. Dont want to have to look back at this thread and think wow we jumped the gun.

Can't wait for the Collingwood & Hawthorn games, will be the best indicator of where we sit.

I would say the same thing about the Bummers game but they're done & dusted for the year.
