List Mgmt. List changes

I can see why they took some of them, but the problem was we took so many risks and so far NONE have come off and it looks really ugly.
RISKS mate your understating that, we had Connors on our list, McMahon who we didn't want and Simmonds who had under 5 games in him and went on completely unknowns that no one else wanted if they had another 10 picks.

I'm sorry but our forward line isn't functioning at all, this selflessness jack thing that is going on needs to stop, we need a proper goal kicking forward that compliments our goal kicking Mids, not goal kicking Mids feed from our NONE GOAL KICKING FORWARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRR WHAT THE HELL!!!!!
Couldnt agree more. A duel Colman medalist playing a decoy style game up the ground in a cut-throat final was just the pits.

Well yeah we've taken a shit load. They were big risks and ones that we probably couldn't afford to fail. Griffiths over Carlisle and Batch over Parker are terrible, particularly the second one as Parker was always a gun junior.

Troy Taylor would be amazing in our current forward line as a 3rd tall. But such a knob.

If we had a gun crumbing forward we wouldn't need him as a decoy. Jamo could punch all he wants and the crumber kicks the goals.

Delist:
Shane Tuck (retired)

Trade Table/Delist:
Luke McGuane - let him explore free agency options if no takers delist
Robin Nahas - let him explore trade options if no takers delist
Tom Derickx - see Nahas. I would tell him a rookie spot may be available if he wants to stick around.

Trade Table/Re-Sign:
Jake Batchelor: Suns want an experienced rebounding HBF and Batch may just be the answer. I'd try and get Batch and our 2nd for their 2nd. If nothing then I'd re-sign for 1-2 years.
Ben Griffiths: Number of sides looking for talls and as much as it may come back to bite us on the backside I'd seriously consider letting Griffiths go. IMO we stuffed him around by trying to make him a backman rather than just letting him develop naturally as a forward. A change of scenery may just kick start his career. Ideally an early second round pick for him would suffice. Like with Batchelor if nothing eventuates then re-sign 1-2 years and then play him as a forward for crying out loud.

Trade/Free Agency:
I know that there has been a fair bit of thought that we're going to trade our first pick but myself personally I want us to keep all the picks we have unless the deal is too good to pass up. If we were to trade the above 2 mentioned players for picks in the 20-25 range that would be very good for us as it would mean we could effectively use our minimum 3 picks inside the first 25.

With regards to free agency, once again we're linked to Thomas from Port and I can see us signing him to give us some more mature aged depth to the list, especially with Tuck retiring.

Draft assuming trades above went ahead: (my thoughts here are based on reading the opinions of others so be gentle with criticism)
Pick 11 - Nathan Freeman is the kid I'm jumping on. Been described by Knightmare as a Dangerfield/Judd type of player i.e. wins clearances and then explodes away and uses his speed agility and sidestep to take the game on. Plenty of us believe that we need some outside speed, this kid would give us that with the bonus of being able to win his own ball.

Pick 20 - Billy Hartung a personal favourite as he was a kid I liked when watching the Champs. One of the premier running midfielders in the U18s who just goes on and on all day. The bonus is that he also has breakaway speed from the contest which again we could do with.

Pick 23 - Jay Kennedy-Harris some may look at this as a bit of a shock but IMO we're crying out for someone to replace what Nahas brought to the table in 2011-2012 i.e. small forward who can get to the fall of the ball and then finish.

Pick 47 - Darcy Cameron it's becoming clearer that we need another young ruckman to develop under Maric as Vickery IMO is better as a forward than a ruckman and we should look at settling him there. Cameron is widely regarded as the best young ruckman available in the draft, if still there we should jump.

Pick 65 - Rookie Upgrade - Ricky Petterd won't be everyones cup of tea but IMO has earnt the right to a senior list spot. He does give us flexibility in that he can play down back and up forward as required. Will get better as he plays more and more with the group and understands the way we play.

Rookie List:
Petterd - upgraded
Lonergan - retain
Stephenson - retired
Williams - retain
Darrou - retain
Verrier - delist
Simon - delist
Rookie draft would simply be to target specific players to fill holes. As mentioned I'd look at Derickx as a rookie if there were no better options as a mature ruckman.

Best 22:
B: Morris Rance Grimes
HB: Houli Chaplin Deledio
C: Conca Cotchin Ellis
HF: Knights Vickery Martin
F: King Riewoldt S.Edwards
R: Maric Jackson Vlastuin
INT: Newman Grigg Petterd Foley

HB: Thomas Astbury Williams
C: Hartung Lonergan Freeman
HF: O'Hanlon Elton McDonough
F: White McBean A.Edwards
R: Derickx* Arnot Helbig
INT: Kennedy-Harris Cameron Rookie 1 Rookie 2

Our team looks so much better with Knights across the HFF and rotating through the midfield
Is knights really that valuable to us?? He looked slow and a bit soft at the contest early in the season, kicked a few goals. Spose we'll see next year

He had class about him. He's probably not the answer but he did make a difference.

I'd prefer Adams to Bontempelli. I think Bontempelli has potential but could also bust. Bit of a risk that I wouldn't take for us.
I like Marsh as a winger but I think he may go top 15.
Garlett is a pea-heart. I've gone right off him and that's just from a footy perspective without taking into account his off-field. I've watched a tonne of his games this year and I come away each time rating him less and less. Then as a footy club you have to take into account the off-field.
Cameron I think we'd have to take 2nd or 3rd round. But I do rate highly.
Bontempelli - I have just gone on the write up on the phantom drafts board and a few snippets here and there , Havn't actually watched a great deal of him but size, pace and type of player suits I would dearly love to get Adams into our team - No Doubt

Garlett i have seen abit of last year and certainly has all the tools and the footy smarts to make it, The games i have watched of him this year have been the late night telecast of the wafl games and has looked extremely dangerous and fast and has kicked goals as well as chase,Tackle etc
But he has that presence that you just know when he is around the ball something happens and the opposition are very very concious of him (they are all sh!ting themselfs) creates well

Whats your opinion of darcey Cameron - Have you seen anything of him sounds like a likely type

I've only watched the late nights of Garlett too. I think he cherry-picks too much and I think his fitness has gone backwards. He spends so much time in the goal square now rather than being that damaging midfielder I've really liked the last 2 years. One guy you may have seen in those games I really like is Charlie Cameron. 19yo small forward. I think he's no.45. From what I've heard this kid actually really wants it and has a high level of talent in the forward line.

I've seen a bit of Darcy and whilst he won't play AFL soon I think he is a must get for us if we don't get Longer. Big, athletic and really skilled. Can rest up forward too which is a bonus. I don't think he's too dissimilar to Lycett tbh.

You see i think this is where prospective comes into it, When i have seen Dayle Garlett play
I get the distinct impression that swans coach wants him to play foward only and is happy with his mids and see's dayle as that foward that is constantly putting pressure on the backmen and keeps them honest so they cant run off him.

I seen games where he has drifted into the midfield and looked extremely confortable and very effective (Kid can play mid no doubt) but might take 1-2 years to do that in the afl

If we can somehow upgrade our 3rd to say doggies/saints/deamons/gws with hopefully nahas involved - Would be great to snap him up - Really is the exact type we need

From yesterday King, Pettered, Newman and Tucky out of our best 22. Except from Tucky the others still in the best 30 for now.

Would still like to see Travis Tuck given a chance.
YES YES YES PLEASE

Has been dominating the sanfl this year and would be alot better than Lonergan i believe
still just 26 yo 187cm 85kgs ready made - Good for 100 games ;)

With our recent fondness for SA players who are slightly out of sorts for various reasons i have a feeling he will be headed for Punt Road.

at minimum handy back up with size if plays like it reads. He would fill a need, we need a Barlow/Kennedy type from somewhere!!

From memory I think he was stronger boned with a bit more beef on him than Shane viewing from the TV at the Hawks which doesn't go astray.

If not Travis we certainly need that inside body type:thumbsu: preferably with smarts and a bit of skill
