I don't like forwards turned into ruck options personally. Completely different skill set. Chop out now and then against other part timers maybe but it’s tough enough being a decent forward just do that.

Absolutely no reason Whitlock can’t play next season and early on. Calsher Dear managed 17 games and 25 goals this year as a first yet key forward.

Only thing that will limit him is if we can’t improve our forward line and efficiency. He won’t last well if we bomb it to him in a pack. However open up space for him to move as the Hawks did, no reason he can’t play and be effective early.

It's one of those good problems to have. Still think given Ken's history we won't debut him early. But he could get a call up depending on form/injury.

I'd say George and Luko are locks for starting 18. Marshall probably not far behind. Club will be keen to get games into Lord, but form/injury history say that's no guarantee. Hard to see where Finlayson squeezes in too, he's too good for SANFL if he's fit.

One spot for a forward on the Int: Richards > Berry > McEntee, or maaaaybe another spot for a Finlayson/Whitlock who could pinch hit in ruck as well

The position clearly open in the forwardline is 3rd tall/2nd ruck.

Seems a bit of an ask of Whitlock in this first year, but I'd love to see him get a go at some point if he's up to it.

There's not a clear standout. Marshall's medical cloud aside, all of Lord, Finlayson, Visentini, Soldo, maybe Whitlock at some point should be eyeing it off as a way into the team. Without a few contenders standing up, I worry we'll default to Esava in a quasi-Dixon bring it to ground role.

You listed a group of players that included McEntee for SANFL midfield depth.
Thats why I mentioned Cochrane as such for SANFL not AFL.

Just think a good opportunity to invest in a skill/position as an 18 year old where he may play AFL Footy, I feel it pointless he become another McIntee where he is best suited to a midfield role but played out of position at the next level.

I see Starcevic to Wilson as a player to best model himself on.
