C4[2]Yo`DooR mentioned on another thread that bailey was possibly gettable a little while back. There is your forward to comlliment what we have if we wanted to try and lure one in
He would cost us the world..... but id have a stab.

They can have ROB and our first rounder this year and next.

3 players who we can pick up without selling the farm who will take us to that next level
Granted they are all late 20's but still a good 4+ years out of each

Rowan Marshall = TDK going to Stk he'll be excess

Clayton Oliver = is that inside extractor , get him back under Burgess and see him thrive again

Liam Ryan = bringing him in lets Rankine play 50/50 mid and forward, still capable of ripping a game apart , can't show his best while at WCE

Dovaston with our first would really excite me. Also would be happy with the SA guys in Cumming/Marsh/Barker if they make it that far (different positions I know)

Rosas is the one that interests me the most out of those guys. Sonsie was good mates with Soligo at Rangers, so I guess that could make sense too, though I’m lower on him. If you could pull Sam Butler out of Hawthorn or even Callum Brown out of GWS (I know he’s more a medium forward), I’d be happy with those too

Agree that Dowling still could be a good option. I honestly think Taylor might be done with us, Pedlar will last out his contract but he’s still very inconsistent
Has anyone heard what Barker's injury was out at Prospect on the weekend, someone on here mentioned they'd heard it was an ACL.? Hopefully not. He was killing it early in the game but I'm only going on the stats as I only flicked over while watching another game and he had 14 disposals at the time which he finished with.

Our role is trying to convince him to come to us on a huge offer with at least 2 firsts being on the table come trade time. We aren't in it to not win his signature.
We are absolutely trying to get his signature, the problem is he has no interest to come to us. It was always between Port and St Kilda.

We have been trying to get Oliver for years.
I heard he would ask for a trade last year, and I knew we were trying to get him, and he knew he wanted a fresh start, but Geelong was where he saw that not Adelaide in the end.

I'm not sure if we are still interested now with the ins we have had, and we certainly would need Melbourne to pay a large % of his contract.

We're better off with him in Melbourne.

Thoughts on Callum Ah Chee? Someone in the media a while ago said that he'd potentially look at a move, he's 27, can play multiple roles and would cost less than Bailey would.

You blokes are hard to convince.

Talor Byrne is exactly the type of hard nosed small forward we need, has all the attributes speed. agility, high octane pressure, penetrating left foot and hits the scoreboard when played forward and will likely come way cheaper draft collateral wise than Dovaston who I've also seen a fair bit of play.

We just know if he goes to Geelong he will get back to his best form.
For a club that hasn't gone to the draft as much as most, they have some of the best young talent kicking around.
Thats because Geelong learnt from the best

Take Ablett/Oliver to a bridge and let him choose which way he wants to leave - as long as you turn up to play then you can party with Stengle all night

Marshall, yeah that has merit.

I don't think we lose anything leaving the other two on the shelf though

Couldn’t agree more. Dovaston with our first pick (around 20 once all the academy nonsense is sorted) feels right this year, but he might not even make it that far.

Failing that, the out of contract options that I would at least consider (they’re not great, but perhaps could benefit from a change of scenery) are: L Charleson (Port), M Rosas (GC) and T Sonsie (Rich).

Failing all of that, I certainly wouldn’t be surprised if Dowling could nail down a small forward role as a stop-gap. Not a traditional small, but he’s just more versatile than most of our other young players, and I’m very confident he can play some genuinely good footy inside 50. Far more confident than I am in Taylor (who would be far better suited to playing further up the ground at AFL level or not at all), Pedlar (who is hard at it, but just doesn’t get the ball enough or have clean enough skills) or Draper (who is wasted inside 50).

Nankervis or Cook can take Tex’s spot next year - that doesn’t concern me at all. It will be exciting to see which one of them can nail down this position, and I think this change can actually improve the team.
I'm hopeful Toby Murray is in the discussion for Tex's replacement, I'd be far more comfortable with him doing the chop out ruck than risking Thilthorpe who's tap work isn't great anyhow.

Butts/Murray snr situation is fascinating.
Could Nick play forward? Having someone so green like Toby worries me.

If Toby's not in the Tex replacement discussion I find it hard to work out why we recruited him?

*Edit, strange move considering we contracted him to 2027?

We must have extended him for a reason surely because I doubt SANFL came into that thinking.

Adelaide’s National Recruiting Manager Hamish Ogilvie described Murray as a versatile key position player who will join the Club on an 18-month contract.

“We’ve had a chance to have a good look at Toby this year and are very pleased with him,” Ogilvie said.

“He’s put on some size and strength while working on a farm full-time which shows a great attitude and appetite for hard work.

“He played strong footy against men for Wangaratta Rovers last year and we think as a 20-year-old 200cm player he’s got plenty of scope and time to improve.

“And it’s an area of the ground we need some support in going forward so it’s pleasing to add to our forward/ruck stocks.”

You need depth in every position. If we stick with 3 talls and Tex is gone, he's a chance.

I think we recruited Murray to be a forward/ruck backup for Thilthorpe. Similar to the role Himmelberg has played on the list previously.

I don't think Murray is overly suited to a third forward type. It's probably a list hole we have, that sort of medium third tall type with agility, skills and the ability to play further up the ground

If that's the case I can't see why Billy Dowling and Brayden Cook can't be given a crack at that role post Tex, especially Dowling with his top end endurance, both contracted for next year. Charlie Edwards (191cm) even who played plenty up forward before moving into the midfield for the Sandy Dragons.

Cook hasn't shown enough at AFL level to be taken seriously so far. Maybe that can change.
Dowling not enough of a natural forward to replace Tex 1 for 1.

Nobody is suggesting we'd be replacing Tex like for like at this point, let's face it Tex is hardly a conventional 3rd tall.

Cook is a maybe but he's been in that position for years now. Of course we also have Welsh whose year has been a write off and was poor last year

I'm thinking more of a Will Hayward type. Maybe Mitch Georgiades. Someone explosive off the mark that could be a point of difference to Fog and TT

I can't see any reason why Billy Dowling couldn't play a role sinilar to what Tom Lynch did, big tank, good overhead and can sniff a goal out of nowhere.
