not having a go at you but honestly why would we want to pick up some1 from a team that finished last on the ladder and couldnt even get a game???

makes no sense to me.

and the fact that we supposedly "tanked" and still finished above them just shows what stage their at.

im just saying hartigan was good up until he caught a terrible run of injuries.
and patrick bowden was a good player in 2006.(more for dream team than anything though)

Hey, fellow Bluebaggers. First post here for me, so be gentle.

I don't rate Patrick Bowden at all, but Hartigan was great in his first season, then injured for the rest of his career.

I thought he showed quite a bit of promise as a nuggety small defender/tagger and am honestly quite surprised that a side as deplorable as Richmond would delist him. It's not like they have a million options to replace that sort of player either.

I definitely don't think he's going to be the best player we could take at pick 2 in the PSD, but if we end up needing to make a second selection in the PSD (as we did last year with Cameron Cloke) then I think we could do worse than Hartigan. If fit, he could be quite handy until Joe Anderson replaces him.

great first post mate and I agree with every word. I think Hartigan has some potential and showed it in his first 2 years but has struggled with injuries recently. Is still only 22 and has played 40 games. Was taken as a late draft pick (70) in the 2003 NAB Afl Draft. Maybe he could do a bit of a David Rodan?

The obvious would be rutten if available and then brennan (too much $$$ IMO)...but i say go for grima and then id be after haddrill i think his past injuries would be enough to make him stay until the 2nd round....i know that Fev rates him as a defender, if he can get his body right we maybe on a winner....that would add 2 KPD to our team and against teams with smaller forwards to throw Grima up forward wouldnt hurt...thoughts?

This is actualy the one occasion where I am happy they are in the box seat :)

Best outcome in my mind is for ben Cousins to enter the PSD( if the AFL let him). that would almost give us the no.1 psd pick you would think.

Tigers take Cousins, Ben Rutten leaves and signs with us! I'm sure he wouldn't leave his home town if he might get picked up by the tigers!

all we can do is hope
with rutten we'd be a new team!!

spot on.
sometimes a change or scenery and a fresh start can revamp someones career.

Rodan was a different story... he had his knee reconstructed & having gone through that over 4 months ago and still with some pain in it at the moment I can now appreciate the comeback trail more. The year that he came back he had bad year of being in and out of the team. Sure a change of scenery did him a little good however I think it was more the coach around him that helped him through. Look at Coglhan, the poor bloke slipped in the shower to do his knee the second time, however it is always about the recovery. Port's fitness guys had well and truly learnt their lessons with Tredrea, Wilson, Primus, Francou, Kingsley, Paxman and there is one other I cant think of his name who have all undergone major knee surgery. They were able to tailor a program specifically for Rodan and I dont know about you he has come back looking and performing like a much fitter man.

I think with the new conditioning coach that we got with a mix of what we already had, who have done a sensational job in getting players up to date, we could take a chance on an injury prone player such as a Hadrill (if he is available) to get him firing.

Thoughts?

Carlton are good at picking "hacks" that are past it. So you will pick up a couple.

King from Geelong was a bargin that you need at the club. You should have got him.

Like Judd?

What's a bargin?

Is that when you come on here and troll?

Melbourne wanted Lance two years ago, so I think you'll recruit him to replace your wasted number one pick who is now a Lion after Bailey cut him. King would be your number two ruckman after you missed out on Jolly and missed out on Cameron Wood who joined Collingwood.

Wood could have gone to Melbourne in a straight swap for Johnstone, but no one wants to join Melbourne.
