List Mgmt. List planning 2015 and onwards

List management aside, I would like our list to have some goddamned m*****f***ing size, muscle, upper body and core strength to make our tackles stick and allow us to break ******* tackles. We are physically weaker this year. I dont know what the hell Burgo and the regime have done this year but I want it goddamned fixed. End of rant.

Today danger and thompson killed us in the centre clearances.

Agreed, we were killed today. Part of that was due to Jacobs hit outs. Hawthorn smashed Sydney yesterday, do Sydney need more inside mids? The point is that we have several high quality players who rotate through the middle, an 18 year old inside mid is unlikely to significantly improve that, whereas another Polec type would give us run and class.

Boak and Gray are top ten mids, Ollie is well on the way and Hartlett can be incredibly damaging when on. We would all love a Kennedy/Fyfe/Dangerfield but it ain't going to happen.

To be honest I'm a bit worried by the state of our list, which I never dreamed of saying this time last year. There is just to much of a gap between the NOW and the FUTURE and I don't see where the improvement is going to come from next season. Wingard and Gray couldn't possibly play any better. Boak is doing all he is capable of. Schultz and Monfries have hit the wall and I'm not sure how much longer before Westhoff reaches the same point. Broadbent and Ebert have been exposed as average footballers with average skills. Trengove moves like a 40 year old man, and both he and Carlile are injury prone- don't see that changing.

Room for improvement next season = Wines (solid but still hasn't reached potential), Hartlett (Who knows if he will ever reach his potential), Polec returning to the side, and making the Lobbe/Ryder combination click. Other than that we have a list of inevitable downhill skiers, most of which are some of our most important players, and a bunch of youthful fringe players being rotated in and out of the team. The key is for this youth (Wingard and Wines the obvious exceptions) to rise to the occasion before the likes of Schultz, Westhoff, Trengove, Carlile are past their best because they aren't going to be easy to replace in the short term, and judging by current trends I doubt we have much time to make that happen.

Lol I don't know who you are , but this is a massive massive over reaction. We have a tonne of young talent. We are just lacking some pieces , and trying to paper over those missing pieces with a gameplan.

I think we expected to make hay while the sun was shining this year, so that we got the most out of Westhoff and Schulz before they become completely ineffective and/or retire, whichever comes first.

Now realising that we are a long, long way off from a premiership, you start to worry about where our next KPFs are going to come from. It's a concern.

Sure, we have a lot of young talent, never said we didn't...but so do Gold Coast and look how far that's getting them. To be successful, at least in the short term like everyone on here expects, a team needs the correct balance on their list. To make it clear, I'm questioning the older players more so than the youth because a lot of them seem to be on the downward spiral and may not be able to contribute what is required to get this team up into premiership contention right now. To win premierships in a competition as ruthless as the AFL the stars need to allign perfectly and I'm not saying they won't but I just have some concerns about a few important players.

Clurey for Bird.

Why the hell would we trade a 20 year old key defender who is playing afl for a 25 year old who is struggling to get a game in syd?

If we want bird he wouldn't come that dear , nor should we part with a good young defender that is contracted.

Lol downward spiral. Get real . We had a fast rise on the back of young talent and teams not ready for the gameplan we had implemented.

Now teams have worked out that gameplan we are basically playing a more even field , except we are fielding a much younger side with a lot of promise still to come. You make it sound like its dire lol.

I'm not sure you appreciate how deep the Sydney midfield runs, I think the trade proposal looks reasonable, but not sure Bird is a player we need.

Edit: Seems like you're just in a bad mood which is understandable.

I understand the sydney midfiled does run deep. That doesn't mean we have to give up a good young player to get bird though. If the asking price was clurey the club would laugh. Bird is a free agent next year. If he did tell syd he wanted to go this year for more opportunity I doubt they play hardball at the trade table..

1st rounder for Sam Day (Plays both ends) and Gold Coasts Second rounder? Bird for our Third Round pick? I think they would be some wonderful management moves.

One of Moore or Young become expendable, would happily trade either one for a Third round or Better pick.

For mine, seasons end;
Trade: Moore/Young
Delist: Butcher, Cornes, S.Gray, Russell, Logan (Possibly Schulz)
In: Bird, Day, Partington, Bampton, Brind
Moves: Wagner becomes CatA rookie, Krakour retained as a rookie

Aaron Black, yay or nay? (the North Melbourne player, not the cowboy from Mortal Kombat X), apparently we're interested

and what're the chances of Aaron Francis sliding to pick ~7-8?
Aaron Black still being under contract (I think?) is a problem. North may be a bit delusional about his value as a trade. Would have at the right price.

Where is this young talent?
We are deluded when it comes to our list.
Clurey has what it makes for a long AFL career.
Ah Che, Hoon and Amon could make it.
The rest have shown very little or are too early in their careers to tell either way.
