Anyway they have been trying a few things. The point is we are slightly limited. They have tried Pears at CHF but his inexperience at that position meant that it did not really work. They have had NLM as a target but his form in the last two games has not been that flash. They brought Welsh into the forward line last week.
It may have been different had Gumbleton or Neagle been playing some footy with Bendigo or if Daniher had an earlier start to the season and played 3 or 4 games for Bendigo rather than just the one leading into last weekend.
I still dont think you get it becasue you are presuming that our game plan was to get Lloyd to kick a bag. If you watch the game on the weekend closely at various stages Lloyd was actually the decoy forward who dragged the defenders out of the space to allow some of the midfielders to push into the forward line. The game plan was not soley based around Lloyd. You have a bit to learn about the finer points of footy

We'll Be Flag Contenders in 2010 (hopefully) with Geelong, Hawthron and whoever else.

Anything can happen in 2 years, like Geelong in 06', they we're the dissapointment of the year, then came 07', things changed, and now they are unstoppable.

Small difference with Geelong and us..well actually a MAJOR difference..they always had the players. We simply do not have a A Class midfielder, I'll grant you Myers on potential but even he is not enough. We frankly will not be flag contenders in 2 seasons. 3 or 4 seasons as I am predicting is more likely closer to the mark, and even so I still recon it is closer to 4 seasons!

Because he is being taught how to be a footballer offensively and defensively and he has a lot to learn about the second one.

Apart from what some seem to think we were never a realistic chance to play finals football before the season started and this year is all about building for the future.

None of those will be A Class mids, Hislop a outside chance. None are in the Daniel Rich category. That is why I sure as heck will not be dissapointed if we land the no2 pick this year- Rich or Tom Swift WILL be A class mids and I'd take either of those as a top 5 pick.

Things do change in 2 years BUT you don't go from a struggling side as we are to a premiership side ESPECIALLY when there are glaring weaknesses in the key area- the midfield!

hope u didnt buy it because of wat u think he said. there was no way we could b thinking finals this year and if u thought we were makin finals this year u were kidding urself. and anyway most clubs say they are looking to play finals this year. but really how many of those teams have a chance

Man, some of your philosophies are just wack.

How do you know that Rich will be the gun midfielder? Wasn't Gibbs supposed to do that yet hasn't shown any more than Houli. Andrew Walker, Luke Ball, Tambling, Delidio, etc, etc.

West Coast had the best side a year ago and people were talking about dynasties but lose 2 players and things can turn pear shaped.

Geelong were crap in 2006 and people said they can't win a flag with a one paced team and massive changes were needed.

We have shown over the past 2 years that our best football can beat most teams. We have to close the gap between our best and worst. One class A mid is not going to come unless we trade or wait 3-5 years for a draftee to come good.

In 3-5 years Lloyd, Lucas, Fletcher, Michael, McVeigh, Rama will all be gone and we hope to hell the replacements are good enough. What happens if there not? You say we will be flag contenders in 4 years but realistically thats more far fetched then saying we'll be flag contenders next year of the year after.

Hille up forward, Laycock/Ryder in the ruck? Laycock doesn't have the marking ability to play out of the square, Hille is a good mark and uses his body extremely well... Paul Salmon 2008!

yeh maybe a chance at start of the year. thats if everything went right for us. and already injuries have killed us. but i wasnt expecting finals this year. all i was hoping is that we would improve and next year make a tilt at finals. but until our skill level and accountability picks up i think we will struggle

He has been a great player for Essendon and will be a good player untill he retires, but if he would only stop falling over when going for a mark, maybe he should have a diving coach, FFS has there ever been a player that hits the deck more than Lloyd does?

think you've been taking too much notice of loser journos like hutchy...its all speculative rubbish why knights got the job over hardwick. because clowns like hutchy tried to report as a scoop that hardwick had the job they tried to save face by reporting this garbage when their big breaking news was wrong. you want a liar then look at hutchy - the very man you are believing!!!

hardwick like mark harvey is not one of the smartest guys going around. hardwick's brainstorm was uh...um...i'll just copy clarko get rid of half the list finish bottom of the ladder for 2-3 years and see what happens. i praise the lord essendon didn't end up with harvey or hardwick or we would be suffering for years with those idiots. great footballers but not much upstairs.
