As Bobby Skilton said on the Footy Show last night, there are no supporters like the old Swans supporters (of which I'm one). We've waited 72 years for this. We played in TWO FINALS between 1945 and 1986. Our team got moved to Sydney. We nearly folded several times. Rich clubs kept pinching the few good players we had: Pitura, Rhys-Jones, Capper, Williams to name just a few. But still we stuck. Still we stuck, and stuck, and stuck. We love our team and our players and our history every bit as much as any Collingwood or Essendon or Carlton fan. We've been kicked around for generations, we've been crap for decades, but still we stay the distance.

I heard some ignorant tosser from Perth on ABC radio this morning carrying on about how Swans supporters are all Johnny-come-latelies and fair-weather supporters and all that rubbish, while the Weagles fans stick through thick and thin!!! What???????? Thick and thin???? They've had 18 years in the comp and won two premierships!! They've been in the finals more often than not. Thick and thin??? What thin?? We know about thin!!! We're the thin kings!!

But now is our time. As Kirky said last night, we are a great team. If we win the one-on-one contests, we will win the game. We play for each other like the band of brothers we truly are. If we set our minds and hearts on this, no-one can stop us this time. As a fourth-generation Swan (with my fifth-generation boy beside me), I'll be there roaring my lungs out for the boys. GO BLOODS!!!!!!!!!!!!

This thread should be on the swans board as a permanent reminder of how loyal and great the blood supporters are! I myself am a bloods man living in Victoria, and I wasn't around when they got relocated but I could imagine how upsetting it would have been for life long supporters and also how easy it could of been to switch clubs to one of the bigger Melbourne clubs. But no, supporters still continued on.. and those of which did change clubs are probably just lying to themselves, so they can all just p**s off for all I care..

Im so glad people in Sydney though have recognised our proud history, and honoured this.. (I cant say the same with the Fitzroy/Brisbane merger TBH, and I truly feel for those Fitzroy people). I have been up there in Sydney a couple of times and shared experiences with other fans, and its great to see that this club means the same to me as a Victorian as it does to them being a Sydney sider..

This thread was made 8 years ago and did not get one reply which I find incredible! Guys, we have a fantastic club here and a fantastic supporter base and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!!

GOOOOO the BLOOODS!!!!!!!! lets make it back2back!!

The biggest thing that shits me is ohh your a swans fan you must of just joined afl fandom

Bullcrap supported them since 1986 when i was 3 watched them every time i could on tv even as a little tacker, went to school where everyone loves hawthorn or essendon etc and we couldnt win a chook raffle, other fans are nobs

What i love about this board is talking with you other fans who have been through thick and thin with this great club

Truly a touching post. It just affirms the beauty of being able to shitsmear other clubs fans, when they try to trivialise our success. It was not handed to us, nor are we a silver spoon club. We are a grass roots club that was the punching bag for every spoilt snooty bunch of prima donna club out there. Our day has come. Our century is here. Never forget the blood sweat & tears from the yester years.

And suck shit to the silver spoon brown tongued clubs out there. WhoreTorn, Carlstink, KKKollingwood, Norf Nuffing. Get stuffed!

1977 and still going. Some of my fondest memories were running on to the ground at final siren at Lakeside. I was walking amongst my heroes, Ackerley, Teasdale, Round, Roberts, Kruse, Evans, Morwood and Browning. I was raised on thin, which made thick so much sweeter!
