I’m looking forward to this part:

“Briefings given to senior Melbourne football journalists who published articles favourable to Mr Sayers’ version of events are also under scrutiny.”

Will find out once and for all which journalists are on the take and will report that the earth is flat if that’s what they are fed by their overlords.

"Yes I farked up and sent a dick pick, I am a complete idiot who's made a total ass of himself and I'm sorry."

The above would generate headlines for 1-2 days maximum, and then a new story would break and everyone would move on.

Instead he's dragged this out to a 12+ month saga.
He clearly hasn’t got much up top if he genuinely thought that was the best course of action.

Hmmmm...

What a waste of court resources. This should be settled privately.
Can’t agree with you.

If he’s even done a half of what is being claimed, and the “integrity” unit have behaved in the manner alleged, exposure of this is important. Nobody but a court has the power to demand disclosure.

Noting at this stage all events are “alleged” it appears yet another example of boys club mentality amongst people with status and power who do have power over others. I would very much like to see the outcome.

Also - integrity unit… WTF? Investigators who listen to one sides wild story (which seems to include telling them not to bother verifying it) and goes Rightio, case closed.

This is pathetic

Hot tip: It’s less journos being on the take, more the AFL being very Kim Jong Un like with their media accreditations. You go too hard at them, they tear them up for not only yourself but your organisation. Bye bye attendances at press conferences, access to league officials, games, coaches, players and press releases.

Why do you think there’s so little coverage on the disgusting amount of money the AFL take from gambling companies from the major media outlets?

I hadn't been keeping up with this thread, but this article - https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2...posed-how-the-afl-investigates-its-own-ntwnfb - made me seek it out again to catch up (and it delivered all the laughs I was hoping for).

The guy seems like an absolute bastard. Imagine what kind of psychopath you have to be to write a stat dec that includes in irrelevant details of your wife's experience childhood sexual abuse. Who tf does that?!?

It’s also such an unconvincing story and AFL investigators would have known it.

The conflation of Bipolar Disorder and Multiple Personality Disorder is bizarre and suggests a better knowledge of old movies than medicine. They are nothing alike. Plus Multiple Personality Disorder:
A. Hasn’t been known by that name in diagnostic medicine for over 30 years;
B. Is widely believed by psychologists, psychiatrists and most medical professionals as having no genuine pathology or reality;
C. Is virtually entirely diagnosed in USA and nowhere else.

The childhood trauma story is either deeply personal and inappropriate to disclose, or untrue (life sentence??? Here in Australia?). It sounds like an add on to put some mayo on the MPD thing. In which case he should research that one better.

Bipolar is manageable for some sufferers with varying success but this woman has had exceptional success in masking a major mental illness though rather a high profile career. Not bad for someone refusing medication and so unstable as to randomly post obscene material online to embarrass her husband and a woman he claims to have had little contact with.

Plus that is a very strange photo to have around the place for medical purposes. Can’t quite imagine what doctor asked for that.

Looks like someone, investigators, PR or both gave him some paper and said write something that gets around the sequence of events. Whatever sounds good

Question for the bush lawyers amongst us, can making a false statement in a Statutory Declaration lead to criminal charges?
Yes. If it is a formal and properly witnessed declaration.

Can get you up to 4 years imprisonment and is the written equivalent of perjury. Rarely prosecuted though unless done dozens of times for fraudulent gain, generally govt incentives, and usually gets rolled into other offences under the criminal code, proceeds of crime etc. I work in the general area - reckon bollocks in stat decs might be the commonest offence I’ve seen

Dissociative Identity Disorder is certainly very rare but it is also a very legitimate issue.

I used to work at a (primarily) Psychiatry practice and we had one case come through that stemmed from probably the most horrific childhood you could imagine. One of the Psychiatrists, who had been a senior lecturer in Psychiatry at one of Australia's more esteemed universities for quite some time previously, had to call a working group among their colleagues to properly treat it as it was so complex and unusual though.

I'd say it's definitely unlikely in this case and in general, but essentially saying that DID isn't real is definitely not right.

It’s an AFL related crime, but I’m not sure he’ll be able to to get the good bloke discount for that. Even with a high price legal team.
Even still he won't get off this at all.
As somebody who has disabilities the boundaries need to be set.
He really shouldn't have sent dick pics to people. Sexting is against the law. No matter who it is.

The fact that he’s made a false declaration would undoubtedly carry weight in a civil claim - and definitely go towards the burden of proof.

The mag. is highly likely to think ‘This guy is an arseh*le, he’s flouted the law and behaved like a campaigner.’

But I agree with you, the Vic DPP is not likely to investigate the AFL and it’s ‘zero integrity division’ unfortunately.

Is that so? Happy to take your word as someone with professional experience. That’s interesting.

Let’s say diagnosis over time has been problematic as potential sufferers are sometimes believed to have developed the more extravagant features as a result of overzealous treatments, hypnotherapy in a less than professional setting, suggestion etc and various cases shown to be malingering (given a dissociative disorder presents opportunities to claim no recollection of periods of time, and as an explanation for bizarre or even criminal conduct). I believe another problem with certainty around the disorder is the substantial increase in presenting patients around those times where the disorder appeared in popular movies.

Given your experience, I’ll accept there are genuine sufferers albeit few. My less than perfect recall is that the identity dissociation is thought to stem from hideous and prolonged abuse in early formative years - so the worst possible ongoing cruelty in early childhood.

Hideous as Sayer’s claim about the causes of his wife’s purported instability, it’s not what I understand to be the pattern. Also, a useful claim (albeit idiotic) if you think your wife will be questioned and convincingly denies the allegations. You could just say she wouldn’t know because dissociating or some such. I’m definitely not buying it.

I don’t suppose there might be any other health professionals who might explain the medical purpose for photographing your penis while lying in bed because that one seems a mystery.

A complete plonker, that's who.

The AFL wishes Luke Sayers would reach a settlement with his former wife, but by all reports he has attempted as much, to no avail.

Don't stop Mrs Sayers. Don't stop.
