I don't think I have ever said a nice thing about McGuane on here but he was valuable tonight. Wasn't our best but he definitely was worthy of his position tonight. Very decent effort and would be top 5 for me.

Todd Elton

What did you think of Tyrone Vickery's game :D

Exceptional...without TV...and without TV at CHF...the side would not have been as potent...played like the Tyrone of two years back...:thumbsu:...
Have posted previously...TV arguably our most important Player structurally after Maric...
Always happy when a player bounces back into top form...:thumbsu:...

What did you think of Luke McGuanes game :D

He did his job and milked the clock. :thumbsu: and he deliberately missed so the bleubaggers could suffer in their jocks about what might have been if they weren't suck losers. :D

I was thinking the same thing...
A brilliant football ploy by Lukey to keep the ball locked up in our forward line...
Kick a goal and the ball goes back for a center bounce and another chance for goal by the Blues...they were running hot then...
Kick a point and we are still in front with the ball locked in our forward line using up valuable time...
That must have part of our pre-season training learning how to soak up time when the game was at its closest with seconds to go...
It Worked...:p:D..

One thing that really impressed me was how hard he hit packs. He split them open, I think he is a bit of battering ram in the forward 50 and will make sure any lose man will earn their paycheck.
Yep, that's what I,pressed me the most too. If he has this mentality every ,arch, he'll be a better player and will be 'in' more matches. Stick with him. Go Lukey!

Mcguane competes as hard as anyone at the club. I've been saying it all pre-season. He rarely gets beaten one on One in the air and on the ground.
Luke's not going anywhere so get used it knockers because IMO he is our most important forward along side jake king ATM.

Last night he played his role very well and stuck to his guns and kept presenting. He has obviously worked hard in the off season and he deserved all the praise he is getting for that performance. Hopefully he backs it up next week as he has the fitness to play that role all year . It's great to watch a footballer on a one year contract in charge of his own destiny. Should be more of it .

As I have been McGuanes biggest critic, I thought I had better compliment him on his competetiveness. He gave his all. Just like to say though after that tackle, the missed shot from 20 out was disgusting. If there had been another minute left and they had snatched it, everyone would be wanting to strangle him. I do not think the guy is any good but I would be happy for him to prove me wrong.

Even a back handed compliment is the best lukey is ever going to get from his critics...
Coulda...shoulda...woulda...sowhatta his efforts on the ground helped the side seal a win...

Complimenting him on his competevineness???? Mcguane gives his all every contest I have seen him in through out his career.... its the brain fades and undescipline acts that has cost him the most flack during his career. He has always been hard and courageuos when competing.

I agree on the missed goal if you consistantly bag the so called "natural" forwards like Jack when he misses crutial goals.

McGuane took advantage of being in one on one contests with Carlton's 3rd defender. He always creates pressure in a marking contest which results in goals. His tackling is another thing he has improved on and it payed off with the tackle he applied to Boostma, when the game was on the line. He has earned his keep in the team and I hope he keeps up his good form.

I was at the game mate & watching him all night - whats the replay going to show me that i havnt already seen

Yeah ok... Its not like teams analyse games afterwards bc its not going to show them anything they havent seen... pretty easy to miss things in real time I would have thought, but no worries you saw everything :)

He knew how long was left on the clock, Dimma was screaming to the bench to make sure he knew. The key was for him to use all of his 30 seconds to waste time not the goal.

Not to mention, tuck, jack and vickery also missed easy shots.

Just finished watching the game again - I sen more of McGuane last night at the game that what the replay shows, So no nothing new

Luke played his role well last night with a few usual luke blunders that you dont see on the tv like going to sheaperd and missing , looking clumsy and not taking the best option when available - But of course you dont see that on tv because its just showing the ball and the player with it.

1 thing that i have always rated with luke though is his tackling, Remember the time he tackled the other Riewoldt and drove him into the ground when he didnt have any idea where he was.

But he needs to know his limitations and perform at this level at a minimum to remain, will be very easily over taken if he drops down a cog.

Luke wouldnt have lasted long under Wallace.

In some ways that makes him someone who I think may a player for us.

If Hardwick has it written on his office board to do something opposite to Wallace then its very raw in the sophisticated world of coaching yet very hard to dispute.

Does McGuane remind anyone of that Andrew Walker/Stewart Crameri type third tall, utility forward?

A very handy player indeed.

Remember he's been playing with no confidence and without a spot for years, who knows what 22 solid games could do for him. He might be discovering himself.

Still very young too, if he can take a forward off Jack because he's kicking 2-3 a game and laying that offensive/defensive pressure on the opposition, he certainly deserves his spot.

Needs to work on his goal kicking, but his pressure is fantastic.

Thought McGuane had a great game. Best thing was that was involved in so much action. Dished off multiple times with great effect. 4 tackles, 2 goals, maybe 3 or 4 assists. I was at the game and watched the replay. Hardwick was complementary on sen as well, "he'll play plenty of games for us if he continues to complete like that"
