In case it is hard to get through to you, it is a pointless question because a.) both players are contracted by their respective clubs and b.) I don't run the MFC football department so what I would or wouldn't do is rather pointless. I think someone really needs to get a life.

The thread's a stupid one as big guys take a few years to get it together. I did see that VFL game though and while I don't like to use that as an example too often, that game, the way he crashed into packs from front-on and from the side to take some huges pack marks really did made my eyes boggle. Once he physically develops enough for AFL he may have a similar influence in time. I'm sure if he was a Collingwood player you'd be saying the same thing. Time will tell I suppose.

My own biased opinion would say fast forward to 2011 and Kennedy would be so far in front it's wouldn't be funny. My worry, with his style of bash-crash into the packs type of play, is that he will be very injury prone.

Might just surprise you. Heath Scotland would be one given he made 2 of your GF teams and he's certainly not our best player.

Better than being starved of success for 43 years. Tell me how much you remember of your last premiership. The players are so old now that they'd have alzeimer's (sp) and struggle to remember the game themselves. Since then, I've seen Carlton in 13 GF's so I'm not worried about a few lean years. Compares nothing to 43.

I couldn't give a rats arse about Kennedy. He's only play 6 games in his entire career and kicked 2 goals.

Dunn by so far its not funny. You're all deluded if you think kennedy will be the "next Carey". He's a big slow plonker who'll be lucky to have a better career than Ben Holland..
I would much rather have Dunn on the Demons list over Kennedy. Said and done and you'll all see why in the next couple of years.

I'm guessing you've seen as much of Dunn as I've seen of Kennedy ie. bugger all. Maybe I'm wrong and you have seen a bit of him, if so what do you think and why is Kennedy better?

You haven't mentioned anything about him so I'm guessing then you haven't seen Dunn who was a rising star nomination and an important part of a winning team playing CHF until he faded late in the year. Dunn is a natural footballer who reads the game beautifully and is very good on a lead with a very nice kick for goal. So why are sure Kennedy will be the better player?

I'll admit, I (and everyone else) see more of our own than other teams, especially first year youngsters so our opinions will be a little lop-sided. Dunn had some good stats this year. Just looking though them. Certainly won't deny he'll be a footballer and looks a likely type. Had a couple of really good games early, which, in a first year, is enough to demonstrate alot of potential. not to mention snagging 13 goals. We only had a few that got more than that. On the other hand Kennedy is a natural CHF,who I believe will have that rare ability to be able to take a game by the scruff of the neck by his physical presence. I know I'm putting the head on the block here but I think he could be pretty special come 2009-10. His style of play will take a couple of years in regards to developing the real physical strength to play that syle of game. Let's just say I was extremely pleased to get him at no.4. Amongst Carlton supporters it's one guy we're really excited about.

The point is it doesn't matter who is better. Both players have been selected to play the role their coaches want. They probably won't play exactly the same brand of football but both will do what is required or what is expected. Dunn doesn't have to be a superstar, just as long as he boots two or three goal a game.

I'm not trying to say one is better than the other, I just find it strange that people can make a decision without at least watching the other guy play.

I have seen Dunn play, he's been in the seniors and I watch TV. He was impressive. Just think he'll have to end up being pretty special in the long term to be better. At this point, technically Dunn's been better if you take the 2006 season into account. Kennedy will be a 2008/9 player as given his style of play it'll take alot of physical strength to to step up to do what he does in the VFL to AFL level. Think there was a small thread on one Kennedy's VFL games going back. It was really something to even neccesitate a thread for a VFL game. Reminded one so much of the way Carey and Brown play (not saying he'll be a Carey...he was special). It was different. Problem is, because of the way he plays he's already getting shoulder injuries.

Hopefully no-one will re-hash the thread in 2-3 years times if I'm wrong....lol!!! I'm usually a bit conservative when judging players, especially our own, but in the case I'm happy to stick my neck out on this one as I do see something. Hopefully it won't get chopped off!!!

Anyway, it's an opinion.
