Do you honestly think anything they dressed up with deserves fines?
I didn’t think GWS players deserved fines and bans but that’s what happened.

Kenny got a fine for doing an airplane. Scott abuses reporters and gets nothing despite having 2 pay cheques to draw from.

Generation x on social media are just weirdos. Lets face it. We have a whole generation of weirdos and corporates are just desperate to not offend them. Absolutely nothing wrong with geelongs mad monday. Im still struggling to see what the complaints are about.

Remember scarletts awesome uniform of bartlett 15 years ago that was widely applauded. Today it would be deemed deeply offensive for triggering bald people. Just ridiculous. And cant imagine what bartel would be copping today if dressed up as the stkilda school girl.
Gen X?

Mate, it's the millennials that are the main problem, despite the blame being lumped on Gen Z.

You just made up a scenario that hasn't happened so you can call it ridiculous.

Bans and big fines incoming no doubt!

This horrendous behaviour must be stamped out!

The AFL handed out a heap of fines and suspensions to GWS.

They arent with Geelong though. They are letting Geelong sort it out themselves. Because they will for sure hand down stiff penalties.

Brisbane had a Mad Monday. The players had their dress up stuff in bags and then had a closed function. We have no idea what they got up to.

I wonder if it is really so hard for other clubs to do this? Geelong seems to have a history of wanting everyone to see what they are dressed up as. But I dont think any other clubs out themselves?

I was being facetious - of course they won't fine Geelong.

To your point though, that is all well and good until you realise that GWS also held a private event with no public parading of their 'dress up'....and still managed to get 'reported' by staff working at the event.

So the best method would appear to be...no more dressing up in silly costumes - it's really not worth the hassle.

I think it was more the performances than the dressing up with GWS. But yes, clubs should have worked out 15 years ago with Fev that the Mad part of the Monday wasnt a good look and should change.

Maybe Brisbane had their function staffed by Brisbane friendly people. At a Brisbane friendly pub.

At risk of been a broken record the people I’m most concerned for are the fans . You guys would all be feeling it too

This is easily the worst day of my life 😪

No one is offended.

The media like to pretend everyone is offended.

No one cares.
Some people have been offended.
Others are trying to jump on relatively small low-level examples of homophobia and ensure there's a message sent that it won't be tolerate.

But also, as you say the media like to pretend everyone is offended.

The headline "Mitch Brown Slams Geelong Mad Monday Antics" really overplays Mitch Brown's reaction. He commented on it, and did it a pretty joking way before saying "seriously guys, do better". Thought it was a realy classy way to send a message without a huge emotional reaction.

The social media response to Micth Brown's comments is really shit. Lots of comments along the lines of:
  • oh so now he's the spokesman of everything to be offedned about
  • came out 3 weeks ago and now he's playing the victim card again
  • it didn't offend anyone except Mitch Brown
  • you can't say anything these days without people like Mitch Brown being offended

It realy reinforces why people don't openly state they're gay, queer etc. Mitch Brown has put up his hand to absorb a lot of this heat.

One year of Bailey Smith and Geelong handbagger dress ups are over. Kill that culture Bailey. Good work lad.

The skit involving dressing up as Jarryd Hayne and a blowup doll was pretty bad!

Anyway the cats decision to stop doing it is as much about the Irish boys and Blicavs dressing up as Kneecap as it is Bailey smith.

Whats wrong with dressing up as kneecap? Dressing up doesnt mean you endorse everything they say or do. Back in the pre woke period prior 2015 no one would of cared if people dressed up in costumes of osama bin ladin, saddam hussein, jack the ripper etc. Because everyone knew a costume was not an endorsement.

You are ignoring the fact that he literally vocally attacked four clubs for not publically congratulating him within 24 hours of declaring he was gay. Thats what turned people the wrong way.

I don't think there is anything wrong with it personally, but complaints about it got written up in the heraldsun.

My point being - i'm not sure Bailey being a bit of an idiot was the cause of the Cats cancelling future dress ups.

I came here to indulge in some healthy Bailey Smith slander and instead found four pages arguing about the definition of woke, do better people

So by bringing it up you admit you can see what is wrong with that then
Do logic better. Thats not the conclusion reason brings you to. You have mistaken my interpretation of what some others think is unreasonable with my own interpretation of what is unreasonable. They are not the same.

Woke is someone thinking slander of some people is a horrific crime worthy of job loss, endless shame and even legal punishment while openly wanting to indulge in the slander of other people such as Smith and becoming disapointed when it does not occur :)
