Seems like an odd poll but there was a strong rumour in the 2009 national draft that Paul Roos was very keen on getting Dustin Martin and he offered Richmond picks 6 and 14 in exchange for pick 3 in order to get Martin. Richmond obviously rejected this deal and the Swans ended up drafting Gary Rohan and Lewis Jetta with those picks.

So years on, who do you think got the better deal? Would you prefer Dustin Martin in your team or Lewis Jetta and Gary Rohan?

While I think my vote is obvious, i'd genuinely like to hear cases made for Jetta and Rohan.

Jetta was amazing in 2012, was a very dangerous player and was unlucky not to be named AA that year. He struggled in 2013 and 2014 but in 2015 he has not only regained his form but is finding the ball a lot as well. In terms of disposal you will find few players cleaner with the ball, more damaging or makes better decisions ball in hand.

Rohan's career was set back a couple of years because of his broken leg but he is a very useful player in a number of positions. He is very quick, strong overhead and is good when the ball hits the deck. He is also one of the Swans strongest set shots for goal. He needs to work on finding the ball more.

Overall though both players are quick. They inject a lot of pace into a side and would be very useful to any team that is a bit slow foot speed wise.

Agreed on both, though it hasn't swayed my vote.
Who would you take?

Given the Swans needs at the time, and now to be honest, I would take Rohan and Jetta in a heartbeat. I am not saying Martin is not really good but the Swans don't really need someone with his particular skills set as we already have players like that. Without Jetta and Rohan though we are a slow team, something that opposition coaches would exploit.

Yep fair enough. I think most Richmond people would choose Dusty, but the way you're describing it seems like the opposite may be true for most Sydney supporters.

With Sydney's team at the time: Jetta and Rohan. Any other kind of team or building one from Scratch? Martin and it isn't even close.

That is crazy. You always take a star over two average players, and Rohan is a long way off being even average.

Martin.
Jetta is damaging but inconsistent and rides his midfields coattails something fierce, Rohan I really rate but he doesn't get enough of the pill.

Pretty sure Jetta and Rohan had their deficiencies highlighted in last years Grand Final.

Martin even if you threw in McGlynn & Rampe.

So you highlight one game Martin has never come close to playing in?

Rohan was close to best on in the Prelim. Jetta has had big finals in the past.

Would have to be for Hannerbery or Parker straight up. Richmond wouldn't do it for less

I understand it would take a lot to get Martin, he's a gun, but there's not a chance in hell we'd trade either of those players for him. Both are better (Parker still a year younger than him too), and neither have any of the associated baggage.

As for the poll question... Even with Jetta in brilliant form this year and the possibilty of Rohan living up to his potential I'd take Martin. There was a reason the Swans were willing to give up those 2 picks for him.

If memory serves me right, Sydney needed to add speed to their side so Jetta and Rohan cetainly bring that to the table. Their list was (probably still is) was more advanced than our own so could probably get away with adding those kinds of role players (not a knock of the ability of Rohan or Jetta but more to say they would add extra class to an already impressive outfit).

I think if you were rebuilding Martin would be the better pick but if you already had a good side with similar players already in place (obviously Martin would be a nice bonus), adding good role players to fill needs elsewhere would be more sensible.

Martin is a real bull and pretty much brings this most weeks, great player, yes he might have some off field stuff going on, but if he lived in Sydney noone would even notice since no one would know who he is....

The Sydney players are still pretty good, but i would take Martin and even throw in something extra....
