It is absolutely imperative that Ling shuts down Hird, and that Egan and Scarlett minimise the influence of Lloyd and Lucas on the game.

Do that and continue to do the basic things that have worked so well and we should do ok.

And, maybe play Hawkins.

Hopefully we can continue to play good corridor footy at the Dome.

Fletcher won't get as much freedom against an accountable side like Geelong. Egan will take Lucas given the job he's done on Pavlich and other power forwards.

My surprise selection might be Mackie on Hird. Has been given some big jobs recently and this might free up another more damaging Geelong player to use the ball through midfield.

I reckon Ling on Hird. I think J Hunt would be a good matchup on Davey. Davey is quick. Lucas should be taken by Egan and Scarlett on Lloyd. perhaps let Scarlett take on Lloyd and free up Scarlett to play across half back?

Matty, I'd be very disappointed if Selwood stood Lovett. I'd suggest Enright's more likely to pick up he or Davey, than Welsh; you'd also expect to see David Johnson hugging one of those two, if he's Rooke's replacement.

Highly doubt we'd keep Fletcher as a spare man in our forwardline. We'd either man him up with someone like a Mackie who can do a defensive job on Fletcher, but be quite attacking too given the chance, or play Hawkins or Ottens down there and make Fletcher accountable that way. And if we were to play a spare man in defence, I think we'd try to free up either Milburn or Scarlett. Don't know if Harley could go with Lloyd though, so it'll most likely be Milburn we free up at the defensive end, and play Scarlo on Lloyd and Egan on Lucas.

Spot on I'd say GB, Scarlett and Egan to take Lloyd and Lucas and Ling to shadow Hird whenever to plays in the midfield, with one of the regular defenders to pick him up when/if he plays forward.
Limit the effectiveness of those three, or even a couple of them and reckon we're well on the way to winning.

Not going to be an easy game though I don't think, with Rooke, and possibly Bartel missing, and several others looking a bit sore at the end of Saturdays game, plus we'll be coming off a shorter break after playing in heavy conditions while Essendon played in pristine conditions Friday night.

Harley is a different player to the one he was 2-3 years ago. Injuries has led him to missing too much game-time and I think the game has gone past him, he can still take a good contested mark and do a good punch or two but he is at the moment, giving away alot of free kicks and his disposal has been rather poor. Egan is miles ahead of him now and there is noway they'll put Harley on Lucas. Just to show u that Harley is no longer our CHB, the only game all year he played in that poitison was in Round 1 against the WB and Brad Johnson kicked 8 on him if I recall correctly...

I highly doubt they will. I'd prefer McPhee to be loose, good player but the quality of his disposal is rather questionable at times...
On the hard and fast track at the Dome the best bet is to bring in Hawkins and have the 3 pronged forward setup happening to make Fletcher accountable...

Hille is back and Laycock has been a pretty handy forward over the past 3 weeks, could cause some headaches.

I would say Ling might play on Stanton. Perhaps Enright if Hird goes forward.
I think the Bombers should be worrying about who's gonna match up on our guys.
Ablett/Bartel/Corey are all in fabulous form. Not to mention our backline...

Lloyd kicked 8 goals on him over 2 games in 2005. The last 2 times they've met... If anything Lloyd has the wood over Scarlett.
