For those that are still clinging to his tackling, yeah it was good today.

Other than that he was embarrassing and I really hope he makes the decision to retire sooner rather than later.

Has lost his natural instinct of playing the game instead of kicking first option it appears he is told not to kick and handball all the time.

Lost confidence to take the game on.... I blame the coaches !!! !!!!!! !
The other thing is players do not have confidence to kick to him unless it is a short "get out of jail" kick. The reason being of course is that unless the ball is spot on he is likely to get run down and is uncompetitive man in man in the air. He got zero marks yesterday and this has been the case on many occasions. For a mid to get zero marks in this day and age seems unusual

In this day you need to be able to kick or at least have speed to give yourself time to kick better. Priddis has neither and never has which is why he never should've been a best 22 player

Article on AFL suggesting they should end the career of priddis this year and play Mitchell another year.

Now everybody can see it except Simpson and the MC.

What the actual **** is wrong with our club ffs. Wake up.

I know, that article made for a depressing read.

Same article also said (for those who are desperately trying to keep Priddis in for his tackling) that at half time, he actually had more tackles, then he did possessions.

Laymans terms, he is forced to tackle because he cant get to the ball.

He has had a great career, but he must be moved on. Immediately.

He isn't forced to tackle. he always has contested that way. he is just too slow in his movement and decision making to play on. But he is not lonely on that island and age isn't an excuse for some.

On another note - had a random labour hire i employed yesterday on a job whos kid has a bit of talent. He goesxto perth for footy clinics on achool hols - one of which priddis was coaching at.

This guy was at a loose end being from the country and knowing noone and asked if he could help pick up balls or wtf everand so he helped out all day.

Ol plod invited him over for a bbq with all the boys at his place - made sure his kid was fussed over by the boys and generally acted like an absolute gent.

Hurry up and retire pridd. Stick around the club - show kids how to prepare and get the most out of themselves - hes the perfect bloke to be a young player mentor.

He worked so flipping hard to shut blokes like me up for a couple of seasons - dont trash it. Hes the sorta bloke you want around the club not leaving with a bad taste.

Which is why he was a great option along with glass and Cox to restore the club's reputation.

Now he and simmo are just harming his reputation by continually playing him.

He's a great in man and your points are correct. It's just time to do it and move him I to mentoring like you say.

The club should convert his last year into a coaching role. A player who has had to fight throughout to play the game tend to make the best coaches. He has never been able to rely on natural talent. He would make a fantastic midfield or clearance coach.

The retire Priddis & keep Mitchell makes sense because although neither can run anymore at least Mitchell can kick.

Unfortunatley Priddis is signed for next year - hoping it's to be the East Perth on field coach.

That's what's frustrating. The MC had the opportunity to slowly phase him out this season and give him the send off he deserves, given his character. Players have occasionally shown form in the WAFL, they could have brought them in for him during away games or something. It would have been a nice way for him to come to the end of his career, and probably prevented the resigning clause from kicking into effect. Instead they've ignored his poor form, persisted with playing him and stunted the development of our midfield, while putting the club in a situation where it almost has to sever ties with him aggressively, or continue to persist until next season. It's absurd.

there is practically nothing Priddis could teach anyone about football..

Domo I agree with you on most things but sorry to say this one is incorrect.

He can teach work ethic, positioning, character, never give up on yourself attitude.

He has got more out of his career than anybody ever dared to suggest and it's all because of work ethic.

Would love for him to teach that to our kids.

Who give a shit about his tackling, he only tackles so much because he is always 2nd to the ball. I would rather a player get less tackles but win their own ball.

So a "Work Ethic Coach" eh? Exactly what kind of coaching role is that? They get plenty of that "non-tangible" stuff already and or have developed it to even make it onto an AFL list in the first place. So what, put him as a midfield "coach", just to give him a consolation job? No, we should have the most skilled ex-player types in there we could find. Mitchell is perfect example. Ben Cousins comes to mind. But no the idiots running our club only care about themselves and their own reps. And pick 'safe' beige options who will just be yes men. How the F is Longmanure a coach at our club?
Just wot exactly is Sheed, Redden, Shuey, Duggan. .etc. gonna learn from Priddis?? Zero. Particularly, what are they gonna learn from him next year, that they haven't already (which is nothing) with him having been in the same midfield right now? Positioning? okay from a bloke who can't even get to contests. Even I could teach them how to trace the centre square.

We don't need to make ourselves "feel better" in dumping Priddis by offering up consolation coaching roles.

Yep seen players ignore him yesterday when he was wide open.

I have to agree. As much as I think he is a great bloke and got the best out of himself I'm still kind of annoyed that Cox is coach at our club and don't want anymore ex players walking out of the team into coaching roles. Fresh eyes fresh ideas. As you say what could he be telling the group next year in a coaching role that he hasn't this year.

I agree, but the club doesnt. After the first quarter the club posted on Facebook about our first quarter and one of the headlines was Priddis with 9 tackles. I couldnt believe what i was seeing. The guy had 1 possession and the comeback we made in that quarter was when Priddis went off, yet our club was boasting about him getting 9 tackles. This is whats wrong with our club, he can do no wrong in their eyes so dont expect us to drop him anytime soon... :(

If there is one thing every player in the AFL has in common it is that they can all tackle, they have the ability to tackle. Tackling is not a special skill, you either have the want to do it or you don't.
People going on about Priddis tackling is just ridiculous, anyone can do it and we don't need a player who has poor skills, no leg speed etc in the side because he lays tackles.
He has been a great player for the club and we should not forget that, but the time has come for him to step down. I know he has another contract but surely even he must see it now.

Fair points.

I wasn't really talking about a coaching role though.

Maybe a loose once a week seminar?
Haha
