Yeah nah sorry. Filtering out what you don’t like and keeping what you do may work inside your own head, but there’s a whole wide world of actual events that aren’t dependent on your recollections.

So you're saying that Knightsy didn't kick 9 goals on SOS, in handing him his arse on a plate, that day then?

Might want to check the record books.

I’m just pointing to the facts you consistently omit and distort. Little wonder if you can’t get the facts of a single game straight, the career-long conclusion you draw from it is gonna all balls backwards.

Like I said....I was there & saw Knightsy destroy the lad with my own eyes.

My recollection of that day is just fine & in sync with the historical record.

The fact you need to attempt a distortion of that days events, amply demonstrates your obsessive SOS googles.....You can't seem to let this one go.

Lol. You’re the one endlessly bringing it up, not me. The “historical record” has SOS as Carlton’s BOG that day, so no, your edited recollection is not in synch with with historical records. Soz mate.

BOG after a hobbled old 30 something took him to the cleaners, in bagging 9 goals on him?.....WOW....The rest of your side that day must have really stunk it up, is all I'll say.

If that doesn't prove the myopia when it comes to this kid, then I'm not sure what does.

Rinse and repeat. That’s all you’ve got. When actual historical record is inconvenient, just run it through the wash with your distorted narrative and vwah-lah ...

Sorry bud, but the myopia here is yours, shown up time and time again. You focus only on the part you’re interested in and leave out the rest. As shown time and time again. No scruples.

I'm not actually sure what point it is you are attempting to make here....Other than empty rhetorical posturing on behalf of your hero, in a somewhat vain attempt at saving face....Not to mention the embarrassment of the Team of the Century selectors, into the bargain.

A 33 year old Peter Knights kicked 9 goals on SOS & you're telling me that SOS was named your best player that day.

That's one very interesting take & twist on the historical record, to say the least.

Yes Knights kicked 9 goals. No he didn’t kick them all on SOS. He also kicked goals on Peter Dean, which you’ve airbrushed out of your memory. Your recollection is inaccurate at best, dishonest at worst, but a distortion all the same.

And yes, named Carlton’s best that day. S.Silvagni, R.Austin, T.Alvin, K.Hunter, W.Johnston, D.Glascott. Run it through the wash all you like, that stain ain’t coming out. It’s “historical record” as you put it.

Royce Hart named Doull as his toughest opponent.

That's nice....because Royce was a centre half forward.

Truth be told, Doull could play any position down back....But he was hardly a regular key position player given his distinct lack of size & height.

Bit more than a stop-gap when a bloke like Hart named him as his toughest opponent.

There are some opponents you are always selected for, because you have the wood over them....Doull could cope with Hart's mobility, where most other key position defenders couldn't....Hart was also only 1 inch taller than Bruce.

Those of us who were avid VFL watchers in the 70's & 80's, know that Doull was never a regular key position defender....He could play that role, Yes....Just as Michael Tuck played much of the 1981 season as our Centre Half Forward, once Al Martello left & before Dermott arrived on the scene.....He could play that role, sure.....But he was never a key position forward.

Southby & McKay were Carlton's key defenders throughout the 70's; with Vin Waite as the 3rd option....Later in the 80's, it was Perovic, Dorotich, Sexton & then Dean & Silvagni, with Doull & Hunter filling in where required.
