THE AFL has opted against appealing the Tribunal's decision in the Brayden Maynard case, meaning the Collingwood defender is in the clear to play in the Magpies' preliminary final.

The AFL, having brought the charge against Maynard, said on Wednesday that it would not challenge the Tribunal's ruling, but would comment further later in the day.

"The AFL has confirmed that after careful consideration and review of the Tribunal's decision and reasons following last night's hearing into the incident involving Collingwood's Brayden Maynard and Melbourne's Angus Brayshaw, the AFL has decided not to appeal the Tribunal's decision," a statement read.

"Per the Tribunal Guidelines the AFL had to make this decision by 12:00pm AEST today.

"The AFL will release a further statement later today."

Why was Maynard in the air in the first place?

Because he jumped into the air in the direction of an oncoming opponent.

It is that simple.

Ask Ziebell, he got four weeks for it back in 2012.

Four weeks was too much (especially because the precedent had not been set back then) but now, all the players know, you leave the ground, and whatever happens next is on you.

That's the best case you can make for him.

The fact that Brayshaw was KOd means you could argue for severe impact.

Well for a start it wasn't forceful front on contact so shows how little you know when you didn't even bother to read the actual document

(D) FORCEFUL FRONT-ON CONTACT Bumping or making forceful contact to an opponent from front-on when that opponent has his head over the ball

So yea thats only for contesting ground balls.

And every single offense contains this little exception

Unless Intentional, such conduct will be deemed to be Careless, unless:
» The Player was contesting the ball and it was reasonable for the Player to contest the ball in that way

So idiots going "UH DUR STRETCHER" can go learn to read, and realise how none of the matrix has any relevance since it was thrown out before it reached it.
