Out of left field i know but:

Was having a discussion with a one very passionate North supporter the other day. Overall what how do you rekon Mcgrath went on W.Carey over the years, in their numerous match ups?

I (jokingly) estimated 50/50, and he almost fainted!

So what does everyone else think? :D

I can only recall one or two occasions where Bluey took the points and numerous occasions when Carey had a day out. I always felt sorry for Bluey having to play CHB when I thought he was better suited to taking the third tall.

The ultimate clubman.
McGrath and Sanderson were both exceptional clubmen. 110% everygame, rarely had a dog day. Both sensational.

McGrath had the unenviable task of playing on some of the most powerful CHFs ever - Carey, Jakovich, Loewe, Spalding to name a few. It was to his credit that he always flew the flag for us. Carey however did have his measure more often than not.

powerful as in strong, not necessarily matchwinners. Spalding and Jako were monsters, and were a handful for anyone body on body.

When did he play on Jakovich? I wouldn't put Spalding in the same postode, let alone sentance, as Carey and Loewe.

Anyone remember the bluey Mcgrath diving tackle on Craig sholl running into an open goal with 45secs to go, down by 4 points. Think the year was 97?? Ball was turned over for Paul Lynch to kick the sealer. Super stuff!! :thumbsu:

That was an awesome match and Bluey came up huge twice. Firstly with that tackle and he also smothered a Darren Crocker soccer off the ground only 5m from goal. Loved that game, voted the best game of 1997.
