Pick 1 – Melbourne - Tom Scully - 181cm, 75kg - Dandenong Stingrays (VM)
Melbourne would have to be on some wired drugs to pass Scully I think we have all known that he will be the first pick. He played in last years championships and could have been a top 20 pick last year Tom is very quick can take a good over head grab very good at picking up the lose ball off the ground when his at full speed and a good kick with out been elite.
Pick 2 – Melbourne - Jack Trengove - 185cm, 80kg - Sturt (SA)
Melbourne will face a very hard decision, do they want 2 big forwards (Watts And Butcher) Or 2 classy midfielders (Trengove And Scully) with there early picks. Trengove is a very hard at it classy midfielders he tackles hard, his not afraid to put body on the line, can take a very good over head mark and is also a very good kick.
Pick 3 – Richmond - John Butcher – 197cm, 84kgs - Gippsland Power (VC)
10 Months ago Butcher was just as a good of a chance as Scully to go at pick 1 but his dropped of a bit this year he didn’t have the best carnival but its belived he was carrying so kind of injury. Butcher has very sticky hands and very long arms witch makes it very hard for defenders to punch the ball away he dose have some question marks on his kicking but he has kicked 30 goals 15 in nine games witch is fairly good.
Pick 4 – Fremantle - Anthony Morobito – 190cm, 90kg - Peel Thunder (WA)
Freo are very well known for taking local boys and players who will suit Subi and Morobito ticks both of these boxes. Morobito is a true modern day player tall, fast, when he only gets 15-20 disposals he can still have an impact, long kick although its not the best his kicking efficiency was 61.7% at the championships witch is same Scully and better than Lucas who is a very good kick. He made the All Australian it the carnival. His also been playing in the WAFL seniors and averaging 14 disposals, I would be very surprised if he didn’t play 22 games and make and impact next year.
Pick 5 – North Melbourne – Dustin Martin – 187cm – 86kg - Bendigo Pioneers (VC)
North Melbourne don’t seem to have any major needs and so I think they will go for the classy Dustin Martin his long kick is so very good and with Ziebell and Martin in the midfield would put North’s forwards in paradise as Hawks showed last year good kicks at the key to a premiership. Dustin knows how to get a lot of the ball he had 20 Disposals in the first half of the WA Vs VC game witch has only 20 minutes half’s with no breaks.
Pick 6 – Sydney – Gary Rohan – 186cm 79kg - Geelong Falcons (VC)
Eat you heart out Dale Thomas this kid has 10 times the amount of X Factor you do. Early this year Garry was playing fullback for his local footy team but has really turned him self around, no one even knew who he was last year so he was a very late bloomer he is very fast can take a very good grab and can play any were, He can even play FF if the Swans needed him too.
Pick 7 – West Coast – Kane Lucas – 189cm – 80kg - East Fremantle (WA)
Lucas was talked up to be a top 3 pick earlier in the year but has dropped off a bit since then. even though I still rate him as a top 3 pick I think West Coast would be rapped for him to still be around at there pick, there’s always the “Home sick” factor when interstate teams are drafting but with Lucas they wont have to worry about him leaving.
Pick 8 – Port Adelaide – Mathew Panos - 193cm, 80kg – Norwood (SA)
Panos is very athletic for his height can take a very good grab a home town boy and can kick a long goal. Panos is rated by some as they best key forward in the draft, I think if he can have a big pre-season and gain 4-5 kgs he would be able have an impact next year.
Pick 9 – Essendon – Koby Stevens – 188cm 83kg – Gippsland Power (VC)
I think Essendon will go best available here, I would class Stevens at pick 9 a steal. Stevens is just about as hard as they come if the balls lose on the ground he will jump on it, His passes are very low and power full so when he kicks it into the forward line its very hard for the defenders to get a hand it but his kicks do get intercepted a fair bit because his kicks are so low.
Pick #11 - Carlton - Daniel Talia - 195cm, 80kg - Calder Cannons (VM)
Carlton have had so many high picks but have only drafted 1 KPP and that was Josh Kennedy who they traded anyway so I think its about time they use there first round pick on a KPP. Talia can play at either ends of the field CHF or CHB were he was All Australian this year. Talia did do a hamstring this year but his a very good player so I would think he will be a high pick anyway.
Pick 12 - Brisbane - Luke Tapscott – 181cm 84kgs – North Adelaide (SA)
Brisbane have one of the best forward lines on the AFL but they just need that small guy and Brown & Bradshaws toes Tapscott can also play in the midfield when needed Tappscott is also a very good tackler and puts lots of pressure on defenders when trying to run the ball out of defence his speed also dose him no harm.
Pick 13 Adelaide – Lewis Jetta – 178cm 72kg - Swan Districts (WA)
This is a really hard pick the Crows seem to have no major needs but I thought they could do with small crumbing forward Jetta’s run and carry is very good he has great goal sense is a very team orientated player and is very un selfish. Jetta is an over age draftee but Harry Taylor was an mature aged draftee and he turned out well.
Pick 14 Collingwood –Jordan Gysberts - 189cm 79kg – Eastern Rangers (VM)
Jordy is a A genuine onballer who is a lot like Jack Grimes, Gyberts has very good pace good disposal and has very good leadership skills. Collingwood now have one of the best midfields in the AFL but I can still see room for one more I think they would like a defender here but there no true KPD around or KPD who should be taken this early.
Pick 15 – Bulldogs – Jack Fitzpatrick - 201cm, 84kg Western Jets (VM)
Jack was another one of those players who was talked up to be a very high pick 12 months ago but he has dropped off lately. Jack is still a bean poll so bulldogs would have to wait at least a year for him to play but he dose have a lot of up side and could be the key to bulldogs big forwards problem. He can also play in the ruck.
Pick 16 – Geelong - Ben Cunnington - 186cm 84kg - Geelong Falcons (VC)
For some reason I can see Cunnington slipping I’m not to sure why but I just think he will, 1 week he could get 5 goals playing in the forward line but then he could get 35 disposals playing in the midfield. His not the fastest player in the world but he can ran at his fastest pace all day.
Pick 17 StKilda – Nathan Vardy - 198cm – 90kg – Gippsland Power (VC)
Saints have two good rucks in Gardiner & King but there not going to be around for that much longer so if they were to draft a ruckman now he would be ready to play when Gardiner & King retire. Vardy is the best ruckman in the draft, he can take a good contested mark, he has very good foot skills, agile and his tap work at clearances is very, very good.
