McLean leaves Demons

Does anyone think the Saints could be offering up Ball (and maybe a 2nd rounder) to the Blues in exchange for Fev?

Then they would get their hard midfielder and have no need for Brock.

This is more theoretical than anything else, but it does make some sense in any case.

They could but I fail to see how they could accommodate Fev in their salary cap?

Hayes, Goddard, Riewoldt, Dal Santo and Montagna would be on big coin taking up the majority of the cap, then there's blokes like Gilbert, Kosi, Fisher and Milne that would be taking up a fair chunk of it as well.

Add Fevola's $700,000 a year to it and it just doesn't seem possible that they are under the cap.

Carlton have already said they will pay part of Fev's contract to get it done.

But Kiddies... Fev aint going to St Kilda!! A KPF is the last thing the saints need. Unless they are retiring King and Koze is heading into the ruck.

It will be Collingwood or nothing. Collingwood will sell their soul to get him!

No way we should be giving Carlton anything more than McLean. The deal was practically done a few days ago, I appreciate that the Fev situation makes their trade period more complicated, but that doesn't change anything that was agreed in principle a few days ago regarding this deal.
McLean for pick 11, take it or leave it, if it's not to happen then we either find another similar deal for Brock elsewhere, or he does a sheepish press conference announcing he has fallen in love with Melbourne all over again and wants to wear the red and blue, I wouldn't be unhappy with that either.

We should be talking to the Bombers. They need a hard bodied mid to help Jobe Watson, and they have pick 10. If Carlton want to stuff us around, we should screw 'em.

Absolutely. The club should be playing hardball here, and trying to get the best possible deal for us in this trade, no matter which club it's with.

if Chook wants back in, id welcome him back, though i may be on my own there

Nope - you're not. If he wants to leave and we get a good deal then I'm happy, but if it falls through then we should take him back as one of our own and use it as an object lesson as to why none of our players should ever speak to the scum.

**** Carlton, if anything they should throw in something extra our way the arrogant pricks. Hope they do get rid of Fev as they also get rid of their premiership chances in the next 5 years with O hailpin, cam cloke and yarran leading their forward line. I'd be trying to get Essendons pick 10 for Brock, although tbh I wouldn't be shattered if he came back although thats a 1 in a million chance of happening

not over yet mate, still a chance of losing Jamar, Bell ,Bartram and Johnson.
Which would be a chance of freeing up spots for some young players. That said I'd want something good for the russian, and would prefer Bartram than to use pick 50. It's not a popular decision but I'd probably prefer the other two as well.

Between a Brock McLean and a hard place

As for the Demons, he leaves with no hard feelings.

"I will always have friends at the club and Melbourne will win a premiership sooner than a lot of other clubs in the competition. They are about to see some reward and within four to six years you will see them there on the last day in September," he said.

You don't usually see a player make that sort of statement on his former club.

I hope so! These 3 are certain gonners (although Bell has another year in contract so would awsome if we could trade him now for something cheap). Means we can use all our picks and still have a spot for PSD#1.

Not sure about Jamar though - happy to keep him as we dont have another decent ruckman, but if the right deal was offered then I wouldnt be shattered.

We'll miss you Brock.

Once he'd made the decision to leave, he couldn't have handled himself any better.
